Description
I am parting with some of my treasured LPs. Here's an amazing original GERMAN copy of PINK FLOYD'S MEDDLE from 1971. CO2-04 917D on the first EMI HARVEST LABEL. MEDDLE was one of Floyd's transitional albums that came between the Syd Barrett era, and the more successful era starting with DARK SIDE. The recording of this LP employed a lot of interesting and unique techniques including plugging Glimour's guitar into a wha wha pedal backwards, field recordings of choirs, furniture sounds, Richard Wright feeding a single note through a leslie speaker creating a submarine like ping which is the start of ECHOS, and even Steve Marriott's dog (Seamus). These would be some of the audio techniques they would use on later LPs as well, but shows the creativity at the time this was being recorded. MEDDLE was FLOYD'S 7th LP in 1971, and they would start recording Dark Side a year later. MEDDLE is less focused songwriting wise, and with no overarching theme to the LP as all of their subsequent LP's would. It was also recorded in a most communal way, with all members contributing fairly equally.
This is a great playing copy. It has full gloss, but with some hairlines that are audible in some areas at a low level. There's no pops, jumps, or deep scratches at all. Labels are in great shape, but one side has a person's initials. Comes with the original inner. The cover is also beautiful.. pretty much MINT, but I'll call it M- Inside Gatefold cover is beautiful with a nice photo of the band. I grade the Cover M- Vinyl VG. Please see below for grading guidelines.
A very special LP in the first German pressing.
I love original pressings because I feel every LP is of it's time and place. The vinyl, and record pressings are all from that moment in time, and no re-pressing or re-mastering will ever make the sound better for me. PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER LPS FOR SALE NOW ON EBAY. I AM POSTING SOME TREASURES. SOME ARE RARE AND COLLECTIBLE, AND OTHERS ARE JUST GREAT ALBUMS LIKE THIS ONE IS.
SS = (STILL SEALED) The record itself is in brand new condition, assumed never to have been played.
M = (MINT) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet,
booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
M - = (MINT MINUS) MINT- is not MINT but is very close to it, near new, there might be a blemish or two, but overall record and jacket are like new or very close to new.
EX = (EXCELLENT) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight
wear and / or creasing.
VG = (VERY GOOD) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the
occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
G = (GOOD) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and
contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
F = (FAIR) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will
be torn, stained and / or defaced.
P = (POOR) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
B = (BAD) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler
We also use + or - to adjust grades in between, so...this scopes out to: SS/M/M-/EX+/EX/EX-/VG+/VG/VG-/G+/G/F/P/B
