Description
You are viewing what is probably one of the most rare Pink Floyd vinyl recordings in the world. In 20 years of collecting Pink Floyd vinyl recordings, I have NEVER seen this anywhere since I purchased it...not on Ebay, not at record shows, not online. It is a TAKRL recording, so obviously there are a few more of them somewhere in the world...but they just do not come up for sale apparently. This is the entire 1972 Hollywood Bowl concert, in an excellent condition 3 LP Box Set on TAKRL. I don't know what the boys were doing before this show, but the versions of "Set The Controls" and *especially* "Saucerful of Secrets" are simply the most psychedelic, "out there" versions I have ever heard. This set also contains all of Dark Side of the Moon, AND Echoes, AND Careful With That Axe Eugene.
This was truly a magical night, recorded at the Hollywood Bowl on the Autumnal Equinox, September 22nd, 1972. The band takes a break after an especially heavy, rocking and vocally interesting version of Dark Side of the Moon (complete with a few sections where Dave and Rick and/or Roger laugh out loud after screwing up the lyrics). Then, something really special happens...as the Equinox takes place...from Careful With That Axe, through Echoes, Set the Controls, and ending with an absolutely spellbinding version of Saucerful Of Secrets. Some really spooky, maniacal laughter is heard in the crowd between and during the songs...the whole thing just sends chills down my spine, even now, listening 15 years after I first heard this recording. *Very* trippy, very creepy...and thoroughly enjoyable. Certainly one of the most special concerts from the 72-73 tour, if not *the* most special, in my opinion (and I've heard just about all of them).
The black box itself is in fair shape, the paper part of the cover is Near Mint, and the vinyl are Excellent--I played them only a couple of times 15 years ago when I purchased them, and transferred them to cassette to listen to. They have been sitting on my shelf for 15 years, sealed in plastic covers ever since. The vinyl has only very light marks on it in a couple of places; all 6 sides play beautifully with no skips or problems.
The Track List is viewable in the pictures. This is a must have for any serious Floyd collector, and has a reasonable starting price...any less than the $115 starting bid, and I will just gladly keep this one. I am not a record seller; this is part of a small collection of extremely rare and treasured Pink Floyd recordings that I am listing this month, due to some adverse financial circumstances. See my other auctions to view what's available, most have already sold. It really hurts to let these go, so please cherish them as I have! Happy Bidding!
