Description

Soundtrack From The Film "More"

This vinyl is in superb condition and has been hardly played.  As per the first and early pressings it has the green tinted cover with the couple facing west which is in lovely condition.  This pressing has only the EMI logo on each label as opposed to two as on the later pressings.

The audio on S1 is Ex+ (Near Mint / Mint- in many sections)

The audio on S2 is Near Mint / Mint-

The laminated cover is Ex

The labels are Mint-

The original inner sleeve is Ex+

Visual grading

This vinyl has been remarkably well preserved and retains a stunning glossy sheen.  There are only a handful of very faint sleeve removal hairlines on each side which are very difficult to spot and there are no scratches at all.  A superb example of this mega early pressing.  With very little spindle wear the record has hardly been played down the years.

Play grading

For such an quiet opening track 'Cirrus Minor' plays with incredible audio with only the odd very light dust tick.  There are no clicks, pops or crackle and I am confident in grading this as Near Mint the clarity is stunning.  The fade out is just immaculate, I have never heard better.  What an amazing start!  'The Nile Song' then plays with great power and depth and very little of the distortion that you so often hear on these early pressings.  The 'Crying Song' intro has a small number of static sounds and then plays with what can only be described as Mint- audio.  For a vinyl approaching 50 years of age this audio is incredibly impressive.  'Up The Khyber' is quite simply Mint- the depth and clarity is again outstanding.  'Green Is The Colour' does have some static sounds here and there and 2/3 crackle sounds on the first half but still plays with very clear sound.  The second half is nigh on perfect with no 'background'.  The majority of 'Cymbaline' plays with impeccable sound.  There are a small number of static sounds but they do not detract from the 'high end' quality of the audio. 'Party Sequence' has superb clarity and provides a Mint- ending to S1 and again the fade out is sublime, as new in my opinion.

'Main Theme' on S2 plays with near immaculate audio from start to finish.  Rarely have I heard this track play so clearly and with barely any 'background'.  The sonic quality is incredible, yes I go on a lot about clarity but that is the first quality on how vinyl should be judged and the clarity here is first class.  The only negative is one click literally at the end.  'Ibiza Bar' plays very impressively with none of the distortion that is so often prevalent.  Wonderful powerful sound with no interference.  The very quiet 'More Blues' has to be heard to be believed!  With only a small number of mega light dust ticks this instrumental performs to a very high standard and is a superb listen.  'Quicksilver' is absolutely stunning!  A couple of static sounds on the intro but the clarity for such a quiet track is phenomenal.  A hint of mega quiet background static here and there, as you expect on a vinyl of this age (!) but the audio here really is of a superb standard.  Again there are no clicks or pops.   Wow!  The final two instrumental tracks play without fault and I have no qualms in grading this side as Near Mint the clarity and depth is that good.

Cover

This G&L laminated cover, with the couple facing west on the back cover, is in excellent condition with only very minor shelf wear.  The edges and thin pinched spine are in superb order with no rubbing/wear and the opening edge has  practically no handling wear at all.  The laminate on the front cover has no splits or lifting just a few small creases around the edges.  The corners have only a small amount of rubbing.  The green tinted back cover is in wonderful condition overall and the flipbacks have very little of the staining that you so often see.  The front and back covers remain extremely clean with only minor ringwear.  This is a lovely example of this cover and not often seen in this condition today.

Inner sleeve

The original EMI sleeve has no splits, tears or marking and has advertises 'Sgt. Peppers' on one side and 'Piper' on the other among others.  It has only very light creasing.

The labels

The one box EMI labels are in immaculate condition and S1 has only 3/4 obvious spindle lines and on S2 you have to look so closely to notice anything, it is so clean.  Perhaps only one very very faint spindle trace on this side.  Both labels are beautifully clean with no marking or writing and look almost as new.  The run out grooves are also incredibly clean.  The text around the bottom of the labels says ''Made In Gt Britain'' only.
