Description

Welcome! Here is a first UK press of Pink Floyd Meddle (Harvest SHVL 795). This example has “The Gramophone Co. Ltd. . .” in the rim text on the labels; this was soon to disappear from Harvest labels. The EMI logo had by now arrived, and is seen on all presses of “Meddle.”

Matrix numbers and mother/stamper codes are:

Side 1: SHVL 795 A-4; the mother/stamper is 1 O.

Side 2: SHVL 795 B-3; the mother/stamper is 1 N.

Using the Record Collector grading system, what do we have here?

Sleeve: The beautiful texted gatefold sleeve grades Mint- -. A tiny chip is missing from the front surface neat the bottom; if you had the right color, you could just touch a fine-point marker there a couple of times and bingo, it would be perfect. Ditto with a 1 cm area at the top of the back cover. Other than that, this sleeve is just terrific, and this is certainly a sleeve – as usual, superior to the American issue – that you want to own in the very best possible condition. The inside gatefold image is superb as well, with no trace of ringwear or anything else that you do not want.

Vinyl: The vinyl grades Mint-. There are no hairlines, no nothing – as new! It plays beautifully all the way through. You could not possibly upgrade this.

Labels: Both labels are superb, with only VERY minor, unobtrusive spindle tracking to either label! And it is great having that Gramophone text there, too.

Inner Sleeve: This album has what I believe is its original plain white plastic-lined inner sleeve. I have heard that some early copies of “Meddle” came with the beloved illustrated Harvest inner, but this could not have happened too many times. This inner, in very fine condition with only trace soiling, has a ‘0872’ date code.

And, in the end: This example of “Meddle” should satisfy most collectors, with the two minute spots of loss of cover finish the ONLY thing that would keep this example from being perfect. The sound quality is tremendous! I bought this album from the noted UK seller Oneadayrecords, who offers only the finest items in the finest condition. Please e-mail me with any questions.

Returns: Full return privileges (less shipping and listing fee) if dissatisfied, but I bet you won’t be! Please pay by PayPal. Thanks and good luck!

About Me: I am not a dealer, but a longtime collector in the occasional process of dispersing my collection of English and German prog, rock, and blues albums. I have three other albums listed this week; check ‘em out!

Shipping: I will ship to ANY country on Earth! Pursuant to my statement above that I am not a dealer, I do NOT gouge anyone on shipping costs. If you are in the USA, figure on $4.00 for good ‘ol Media Mail; of course, you can do Priority, Overnight, you name it. In those situation, as well as if you live outside of the USA, I will take your item(s), with the packaging, to the post office and I will obtain multiple shipping quotes for you (fast, slow, whatever).

Insurance: I will also get an insurance quote for you. I pack things very well, but if you choose to not buy insurance, I will not be responsible if something nasty happens.

Namaste, everyone!
