Pink Floyd : Soundtrack From The Film 'More' 1 / 1 2nd Press 1969 Facing West / Green Tinge

This second pressing plays to a very high standard with only minimal interference.  There are no clicks or pops, just some of the usual quiet statics that are not intrusive anyway.  A gentle 'hum' on 'Quicksilver' but for the large part it is so quiet and many sections do play better than the overall Ex- grade I have given it.  The vinyl itself is in lovely condition with only a few very faint hairlines.

The laminated G & L cover with the green 'tinge' on the reverse is one of the best I have ever seen.  It is so clean and has been preserved so well.  The original inner is very similar but with the band name and title written on one side.

This second pressing has two EMI logos on the labels and 'The Gramophone...' text around the rim.  It still has the green coloured image on the back as per the first pressings and the couple is facing left / west.

Visual description

The vinyl is in great condition and still has a lovely glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a strong bright light I can only see a small number of faint hairlines and there is nothing that stands out.  The run out grooves are very clean andf the Columbia labels are perfect with no marking or spindle wear.

Play grading

The birdsong intro 'Cirrus Minor' plays with stunning clarity overall although there is a small section of very quiet dull sounds, ticks isn't the right word.  The acoustic section is perfect and the vocal section is so clean with barely any background.  The second half instrumental plays with outstanding clarity for the vast majority with a small passage of light static for a few seconds near the end.  I was going to say Near Mint- but perhaps Ex+ is a better representation of the audio.  However, it's true to say many sections plays with genuine quality.

'The Nile Song' plays with extreme power from the word go.  This may well be Floyd's loudest number and it plays with phenomenal quality here.  From start to finish the power and depth of the audio is second to none and there is no intrusion either.  Gilmour's solo beyond the halfway mark is a prime example of that, so powerful and with no distortion on the top end.  This is Mint all the way.  

The quiet intro on 'Crying Song' does have a little light static but it doesn't last long and the opening vocal plays to perfection.  It continues to play so well with barely any static and for a quiet track the playback is exceptionally clean.  The intro is Ex and the remainder Near Mint at the very least.

'Up The Khyber' has one minor static on the build up intro and then plays with superb depth and clarity from then onwards.  One light tick near the end so I will say Near Mint overall.

Another quiet track in 'Green Is The Colour' and the intro is flawless.  The opening vocal is almost as good with only a couple of light static ticks and it continues to play with great clarity and warmth.  The closing instrumental has a stunning clarity of sound apart from a couple of ticks near the end so I will grade as Ex+

The intro on 'Cymbaline' has three light ticks only and Gilmour's opening vocal and chorus have barely any background.  It continues to play so well with only a handful of minor ticks.  For a quiet track though the playback is very impressive and Ex+ is deserved.  The vast majority plays with great clarity and definition.

'Party Sequence' ends S1 with no interference and Mint- is fair.

The opening section on 'Main Theme' plays with stunning clarity, it is so quiet for the majority and yet all I heard were a handful of very minor statics.  Once this instrumental gets going, with Mason at the forefront, the playback is perfect.  The clarity and warmth of the audio is outstanding and I cannot praise it highly enough.  This high end quality is kept up to the very end with only minimal static on the fade out.  I will say Near Mint but I'm sure you can read between the lines - it is so so close to Mint-

'Ibiza Bar', the other 'loud' number, plays with great depth and power throughout.  There is no interference as such, no distortion and only light static on the fade out.  Mint- is fair.

'More Blues' has a small number of very quiet statics at the start and then plays with impeccable quality from that point on.  No ticks, clicks or pops and only a handful of mega quiet statics.  Near Mint

The intro on 'Quicksilver' plays very clearly with a very quiet 'hum' in the background, so quiet and non-intrusive, and only a handful of mega quiet statics.  It continues in much the same way and overall the clarity of sound is very impressive for such a quiet instrumental even with that very gentle static 'hum'.  Just a little more obvious during one section towards the end and right at the end but I still believe Ex- is an honest and fair grade.  Like I say no clicks or pops.

'A Spanish Piece' plays without fault apart from that minor hum right at the end of the fade out.  Near Mint

'Dramatic Theme' ends the album with very clean audio.  There is perhaps a minor amount of inner groove distortion but nothing that you would deem intrusive.  Near Mint

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The G & L cover is in lovely condition with only minimal wear.  The edges and thin pinched spine are in fantastic shape and the corners have hardly any wear either.  The opening edge is just as impressive and the laminated front cover is close to perfect with only a small number of minor edge creases next to the spine.  The green back cover has barely any marking and the flipbacks for once have hardly any of the marking / staining on the edges that you so often see.  A couple of minor creases on the top flipback that is all and this is easily one of the best copies of this collectable cover that you will find.

The original EMI inner sleeve is in excellent condition with no side splits or tears, no marking and hardly any creasing.  It does however have the band name and title written on one side.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
