Pink Floyd's 'Piper At The Gates Of Dawn' is probably the best and most musically consistent and essential psychedelic rock album ever recorded. This copy on offer here is a near impossible to find NM condition original 1967 UK STEREO 1st pressing, i am unsure about the pressing history of original UK 1967 MONO/STEREO blue/black columbia issues but original MONO copies seem to outnumber STEREO copies by around 50 to 1, yet record collector state that MONO issues are rarer, i think they have got this wrong as original 1967 blue/black label STEREO issues really do surface much less often than MONO's.

This 1967 uk stereo copy on offer here is a real stunner that has been rarely played and has been very well looked after indeed. The vinyl is in beautiful near mint condition and is very near perfect and the E.J.Day front laminated flip-back cover is also in very clean and tidy near perfect condition. Both sides of the vinyl look mint apart from just three very light hard to spot wispy top surface marks that have absolutely no affect on play at all. This copy plays like a dream from start to finish, i can guarantee that both sides play EX++/NM throughout, there are no loud pops, clicks or annoying crackle, even between tracks.

This is one of the best original 1967 uk stereo copies you are ever going to find. It's a real stunner that plays and sounds perfect and will not need upgrading.

1967 UK STEREO FIRST PRESS VINYL = EXCELLENT+++ / NEAR MINT (PLAYS M-)

Both sides of the vinyl are in extremely clean and glossy condition, at first glance both sides look in perfect mint condition, the vinyl still retains all of it's brilliant original full sheen with no noticeable marks, scuffs or scratches, when studied very closely there are just three very light wispy top surface lines that are very hard to spot, there is just one on 'Astronomy Domine' and just two other very small ones side by side near the start of 'Interstellar Overdrive', these really are so faint and hard to spot that you actually have to angle the vinyl towards the light to even see them and even then they are still pretty difficult to spot, these three faint wispy lines have absolutely no affect on play at all as both sides play a stunning MINT- throughout.

Both sides play and sound absolutely amazing, i played the album right through before listing it and there are no loud clicks pops or crackle at all, there is near total silence even between tracks. The sound quality is really fantastic and clear throughout the entire album, there is no groove wear and no distortion, this album has only ever had just a few careful plays on a decent turntable so the sound quality is still as good as new, from the start of the quiet radio/megaphone intro of the opening track ''Astronomy Domine'' on side one to the strange duck noises right at the end of the track ''Bike'' at the end of side 2, the entire album plays and sounds superb throughout with no audible faults, the excellent stereo phasing on the long instrumental track ''Interstellar Overdrive'' still sounds just as incredible today as it did over 40 years ago, as does Syd Barrett's excellent crystal clear vocals coming from both speakers on the catchy psych-pop track ''Flaming'', the whole album just plays and sounds faultless throughout.

This is a definite keeper copy, you will not find this very rare 1967 uk first press stereo issue in better playing condition this, it's a dream copy.

BLUE/BLACK COLUMBIA STEREO LABELS = EX

Both labels are near perfect as there are just a few light spindle traces on each side, this rare album has not had very many plays at all and the minute amount of spindle traces gives this away.

ERNEST.J.DAY CO TRI FLIP-BACK SLEEVE = NEAR MINT

The single front laminated flip-back sleeve was made and printed in the uk by Ernest J.Day & Co. This cover is also in really superb very clean and tidy condition with no faults at all. The front lamination is just brilliant and is still very glossy and reflective, most of the these laminated covers from the 60's have creasing and lamination lines but this front cover has none at all and is near flawless. The grey matt rear sleeve is in really excellent clean blemish free condition, a very large percentage of these original sleeves seem to have a very grubby stained and worn appearance, but this back cover still has a really excellent consistent clean dark grey colour that is free of stains, blotches, writing and ring wear. The top and bottom edges and spine are straight and strong and crease and crack free and are in really excellent condition, there is no corner fluffing or edge/spine wear at all and the spine text is still bold and clear and very easy to read. The vinyl and inner sleeve has been kept separate from the outer cover for many years, so the covers opening edge is still strong, straight and crisp with no feathering or weakened areas. The three flipbacks are excellent and strong with minimal creasing to the bottom right corner. A brilliant original E.J.Day cover in superb condition.

EMI ADVERTISING INNER SLEEVE

The album comes with it's EMI advertising inner sleeve which is in very good+ condition, the record has been stored in a separate more vinyl friendly white poly-lined inner sleeve for almost 40 years, this was to prevent marks that can be caused by removing and replacing the vinyl from the coarser original paper inner, it has also prevented the original EMI inner from getting seem splits, both inners will be sent with the album to the winning bidder.

I pack my records very well, the album will be removed from the outer cover to avoid seem/edge splits in transit, plenty of rigid cardboard support will be used to avoid corners bending, this album will reach you in the same condition as advertised.
