Description
THIS IS AN AUCTION FOR THE DEBUT LP BY PINK FLOYD ENTITLED "PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN".THIS IS A FIRST PRESSING RELEASED IN 1967 IN THE UK ON COLUMBIA RECORDS IN STEREO CATALOGUE NUMBER SCX 6157 WITH THE VERY EARLY MOTHER STAMPERS OF 1H/1L AND WITH THE BLUE WRITING ON BLACK LABELS.
THE ORIGINAL TRIPLE FLIPBACK E.J.DAY SLEEVE IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THERE IS SOME STORAGE WEAR TO THE CORNERS [SEE PHOTO'S] AND SOME CREASING TO THE LAMINATE. THE SPINE LOOKS GREAT. THERE IS A VERY SMALL NAME WRITTEN IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER ON THE BACK. OVERALL A NICE EXAMPLE FOR AN LP THAT IS 43 YEARS OLD.
THE VINYL HAS RETAINED A VERY GOOD SHEEN. THERE ARE A SOME LIGHT MARKS AND THE LP HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN ENJOYED BUT I AM HAPPY TO GRADE IT AS VISUALLY VERY GOOD AGAIN BEARING IN MIND THE LP IS 43 YEARS OLD. THE VINYL HAS THE MATRIX NUMBERS OF YAX 3419-2 AND YAX 3420-1.
I HAVE LISTENED TO THE RECORD AT GREAT VOLUME . IT SITS NICE AND FLAT ON THE TURNTABLE AND PLAYS THROUGH WITHOUT ANY SKIPS OR JUMPS. THERE IS SOME BACKGROUND NOISE THROUGHOUT AND THE VERY OCCASIONAL STATIC POP BUT I AM HAPPY TO GRADE THE AUDIO AS VERY GOOD-. OVERALL IT WAS STILL A PLEASURE TO LISTEN TOO BUT PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THE AGE OF THE LP.
THE LABELS ARE IN VERY GOOD+ CONDITION. SIDE 2 HAS THE "K T" TAX CODE STAMPED OVER THE SPINDLE HOLE.
THE LP COMES WITH ITS ORIGINAL HARVEST INNER SLEEVE. THE LP WILL BE SENT IN A NEW INNER SLEEVE AND SEPERATED FROM THE MAIN SLEEVE.
OVERALL A GREAT RECORD IN NICE CONDITION.
PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT MY OTHER LISTINGS FOR OTHER CLASSIC ROCK LPS
I use the Record Collector guide to grade my records-see below
The Lp will be sent in professional mailers and will be sent in the Uk at a cost of £3.00. The cost of postage in Europe is £8.00 which includes international signed for delivery as mandatory . Grading:- MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced
