Description
PINK FLOYD PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN UK MONO 2nd PRESS.
The matrices are XAX - 3419 - 2 with a GA stamper on side 1 and XAX- 3420 - 1 with a GT stamper on side 2. Side two track one is arranged over two lines on the label and the font is consistent with the second mono press. This is definitely the genuine article.
The vinyl is truly amazing. Play tested on my Sansui XP-99 with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge it sounds immaculate with virtually no crackle. It is as shiny as it was in 1967 when it came back from Woolies. Even silent on the run ins. Inspection under bright light shows minimal paper scuffing. One on A1 looks significant but does not effect play.
The labels are near perfect with barely noticeable spindle marks and virtually no spindle wear.
The sleeve front has a tiny bit of ringwear at the top and minimal corner dinks.
There is the beginning of a seam split approximately 1cm long half way along the bottom edge. There are no creases or any laminate lift.
The opening shows a tiny amount of wear. The spine has a few age related spots but is complete and fully legible.
The rear is near mint with only a few age related marks on the flipbacks. There is no ringwear. "File under POPULAR Pop Groups" is printed on the upper right corner of the flipback.
The company inner sleeve is the original (second version).
I cannot emphasise strongly enough the quality of this LP. It's unlikely that you will ever see as good an example of this rare album.
