This is the 1st Press of 'Saucerful Of Secrets' by Pink Floyd. This extremely rare press is complete with the first 1/1 matrix and the very earliest 1G/1G mothers and stampers, making this one of the first records ever pressed. Only a few hundred 1G - 1G pressings exist. The blue/black Columbia label has the essential 'Gramophone Company' and 'Sold In The UK' text. The record is complete with the Mono 'Patents Pending' laminated flipback Garrod & Lofthouse, Hipgnosis sleeve and the original EMI advertising inner sleeve. This is the rarest essential Mono press with its vastly superior rich sound.
The record is in Very Good condition. The vinyl has a sensational high gloss, there are just a few of the lightest hairline marks on both sides and one cm mark at the start of Side 2. The blue/black Columbia label is completely clean. The blue is vivid and the black is unworn. The silver text is perfect and there is only light spindle wear and a few spider marks. On playing the sound is rich, both warm and vibrant and also clear. The mark does make a couple of clicks and there is, as is common to this album, a couple of brief periods of light noise and some light background noise, but this is largely insignificant and it plays well. The vocals are sharp and the vast array of sounds can all be clearly heard. The record is in the earliest 'Patents Applied For' EMI advertising inner sleeve.
The laminated 'patents pending' flipback Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is in Very Good condition. The black is bold, the colours are vivid and the white is crisp and bright. The laminate has a bright mirrorlike shine with just a couple of light creases and a little wear to the opening edge. On the back the flipbacks clearly state the essential earliest 'Patents pending' text and they are complete and sealed. The black has only very slight wear and the grey is still very bright. The spine is firm with clear text and the whole cover feels solid.
