Description

PINK FLOYD "THE BEST OF" 1970 Holland Columbia/EMI original RARE greatest hits compilation w/RARE non-LP tracks. Columbia/EMI stereo 5C054-04299. M-/M.

The first & best of the U.K. psychedelic groups were signed to EMI Records in 1967. Their early albums were milestones of the genre but the group also made several non-LP singles during the late 60s which are compiled on this Dutch LP from 1970. Some of these songs such as "Arnold Layne" & "See Emily Play" were also on "Relics" but this "Best Of" also contains several tracks that were not on that compilation. The B-side of "Arnold Layne" is represented here- "Candy & A Currant Bun" as well as the 3rd & 4th singles- "Apples & Oranges" & "It Would Be So Nice- tracks that do not show up very often. Group leader Syd Barrett was still in charge on most of the tracks with his whimsical surrealistic lyrics & psychedelic guitar here but of his imminent demise are apparent on some songs. The rest of the group consi0ted of Roger Waters on bass, Rick Wright on keyboards, Nick Mason- drums & Dave Gilmour on guitar on some of the later selections. Never released in this form in the U.K. or U.S., this "Best Of" compilation from  Holland makes an invaluable addition to your Pink Floyd vinyl library.

10 tracks- Chapter 24, Mathilda Mother, Arnold Layne, Candy & A Currant Bun, The Scarecrow, Apples & Oranges, It Would Be So Nice, Paint Box, Julia Dream & See Emily Play.

Laminated cover is intact & retains its original look & feel with no fading, writing or split seams. The only deterrent is slight corner wear & a slight separation of the lamination on the lower left front cover. Overall the cover still rates a near MINT grading. Record sounds great with no scratches or scuffs. Looks nearly new! Very few plays on this disc. Vinyl still retains its original sheen- rated MINT. The black Columbia labels w/silver lettering look great & indicate that it is an original 1970 stereo pressing from the Netherlands.
