Description
This rare original A2/B2 1994 UK release of The Division Bell is in wonderful condition. Visually the vinyl is in stunning condition with no hairlines and having play tested it I would say it has been rarely played. It retains that glossy sheen of new vinyl and is rare to find in this condition. The audio is stunning.
There are 5 clicks just before 'Cluster One' starts and then plays with hardly any static. The audio is superb. The remainder of the side plays with the same quality and the clarity is stunning. There is practically zero static which is incredible considering this record is now over 20 years old. I grade honestly and sometimes mention things where others wouldn't and apart from the beginning there is no interference. 'Wearing The Inside Out' plays in sublime fashion and is nigh on perfect, like the rest of the side really!
'Take It Back' plays with a little static for the first few seconds. Thereafter it plays with great audio with a couple of very light clicks, although barely audible. The quiet intro of 'Coming Back To Life' plays in sublime fashion and has to be the best version I have heard. The remaining tracks play as near to Mint as you will hear also. 'High Hopes' is stunning and you will not hear better...anywhere!
What makes this vinyl stands out is that even during the quiet sections there is almost no interference. It has obviously been hardly played, if at all, and sounds as good as the first day it was released. In summary it plays with a clarity and depth you find with new vinyl. Yes there are the pops at the start of Side One but it is before the music begins! It plays with no skips or jumps, lies perfectly flat on the turntable and plays as Mint for the majority. A stunning listen and this LP is only going to get more rare. Any serious Floyd fan would be very happy to have this underrated first press in their collection!
The gatefold cover is in excellent condition. There is very minor wear on the top edge and a small mark bottom left and a couple of small creases on the reverse but other than that it has been looked after extremely well. The wide spine remains strong and the inside of the gatefold is in superb shape.
The lyric inner (with 5 inch thumb notch) is as new with no wear at all.
