I recently purchased a stunning Pink Floyd collection where all the records and covers have been so well preserved by the previous owner. I am selling the majority of them during this auction.
Pink Floyd : The Wall A2/B2/A1/B2 1st Press
This first pressing plays with superb audio across all four sides and has been so well preserved down the years. It can only have been played sparingly which is how it has retained its original sonic quality. It is easily one of the finest examples I have heard and as a reminder this is a 2/2/1/2 first press! There is just one very brief moment of interference right at the start of 'Bring The Boys Back Home' where you can hear a little crackle but aside from that the clarity and depth of the audio is stunning. A few very light ticks but they are not intrusive and you will find them on new vinyl let alone one that is over 40+ years of age. The vinyls are visually stunning, they just could not look any better, and the previous owner clearly handled them with extreme care.
The same applies to the cover which is also in fantastic condition with no obvious wear. It truly is a fantastic example. This one does not have the transparent sticker as it was not issued with all of them. As per this first pressing it is cream coloured and the bricks on the front are not aligned at the bottom plus the band members are not listed on the inside.
The original lyric inners (with rounded corners) are also in superb condition and look brand new.

Visual grading
The vinyls are in beautiful condition and have an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. At first glance you would think they were brand new such is the stunning visual quality. Only on close inspection can I find a handful of barely visible sleeve removal hairlines. The run out grooves are unmarked and the labels are also super clean with no marking and only minimal spindle wear.
Play grading
The very quiet intro on 'In The Flesh?' plays with incredible clarity, there is no static, and then plays 'as new'. Through every high octane section and vocal plus the air-crash the audio is amazing! This is Mint without doubt.
The baby cry at the start of 'The Thin Ice' again has no background and then plays with outstanding clarity for the remainder. A couple of dust ticks that is all - another Mint track.
'Another Brick In The Wall part 1' provides more evidence of a vinyl that has been so well preserved. This is a quiet track and yet there is not even a single dust tick let alone anything worse! This is audio of the highest calibre and Mint is easily deserved. Already I cannot believe what I am listening to here!
'The Happiest Days Of Our Lives' has one light static tick just prior to the first vocal but otherwise plays to perfection. There is no background static and again the clarity cannot be faulted. Near Mint
'Another Brick In The Wall part 2' is 'as new' with no interference. The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio could not be improved upon and Mint is an easy grade to give.
The telephone intro on 'Mother' has no background and the opening vocal is so clean with only a handful of mega light ticks that are non-intrusive. From on it plays beautifully with a clarity of sound that is STUNNING! As per all the other tracks on S1 the sonic quality is so impressive and if anyone told you this side had never been been played before you would believe them! The first verse is Near Mint- but the remainder qualifies as Mint even the final vocal only line has no background!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 'birdsong' intro on 'Goodbye Blue Sky' is faultless and the same applies to the rest of the track. It just plays beautifully from start to finish with no intrusion. An immaculate Mint start to S2.
As always I have played every track in full and there is just no need to describe them all individually. I cannot emphasise enough just how strong and clear the audio is, the playback is stunning. As stated in my intro the previous owner really knew how to look after his LPs and this may be the best of the bunch! 'Empty Spaces' and 'Young Lust' are 'as new' with no intrusion and only the first verse on 'One Of My Turns' has a small number of minor static ticks for a few seconds, something you find on new vinyl let alone one of this age!
The long quiet 'intro' on 'Don't Leave Me Now' is perhaps the most impressive section on this side as it so often plays with a fair amount of static. There is barely any here and the clarity is exceptional!
'Another Brick In The Wall part 3' plays with wonderful precision and 'Goodbye Cruel World' ends the side with superb clarity and just one light static tick.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Hey You' is superb! The sonic quality is incredible and in essence it plays like it has never been on a turntable before! The clarity and depth of the audio is flawless. I cannot remember when I last heard a version as 'complete' as this and is MINT and then some!
The 'intro' on 'Is There Anybody Out There?' is so clean and precise and it then plays with great clarity for the remainder. There are three light ticks during the acoustic section and just a hint of light static for a couple of seconds near the end but that is the only background. Near Mint- overall.
'Nobody Home' plays so clearly with only a small number of light static ticks during the first verse that are not intrusive. From then on it plays so well with just one light tick. By mentioning every tick however light makes my grading seem worse than it is in a way - believe me when I say this is a stunning Near Mint- version.
'Vera' plays with stunning quality throughout. Mint
'Bring The Boys Back Home' has a little crackle right at the start and then plays with superb audio to the end. VG on the intro then Mint
The classic 'Comfortably Numb' plays with genuine power and precision from the first note to the last. There is no interference and the closing solo is just breathtaking. It often plays with distortion but that is not the case here and this is a Mint version to end the side, never heard better!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Both 'The Show Must Go On' and 'In The Flesh' play with sublime quality and no intrusion. The harmonies are crystal clear and the clarity and power of the audio cannot be faulted. Mint
'Run Like Hell' more than keeps up the standard and plays with tremendous power and depth from the get go. It continues to play 'as new' with no sign of any interference. Another Mint track.
'Waiting For The Worms' also plays with stunning precision. From the opening crowd scene through every vocal and instrumental section the playback is superb. A couple of dust ticks no more - a hugely impressive Mint- version.
The brief and very quiet 'Stop' plays with wonderful clarity and just one very light tick. Mint-
'The Trial' is so close to perfect with only 3/4 light ticks. There is no background static and the powerful end sequence has no distortion. The crashing 'Wall' has never sounded stronger or clearer! Near Mint
'Outside The Wall' ends the album with, you guessed it, great clarity. For such a quiet track the audio is so clean and precise and there is no background static to at all. It could not play any better that is how good it is and for the final few grooves to play as clearly as this is a rarity especially on a 2/2/1/2 first pressing! A Mint finish.
In summary this first pressing plays with a clarity and definition that is rarely found today. To be honest it's quite difficult to find a 2/2/1/2 first pressing let alone one that plays this well! No exaggeration the vast majority is 'as new' with only one very brief moment of interference on the 'Bring The Boys Back Home' intro. Aside from that there are a small number of light ticks but that comes with the territory, this is vinyl after all! They are not intrusive and like I say the clarity throughout is so impressive. Together with a superb cover (and inners) this is an album that has been so carefully looked after down the years and just one look at the vinyls confirms that. They are visually stunning and and this will add to any 'high end' collection.
The Gatefold & Lyric Inners
The cover is in fantastic condition with no obvious shelf wear and is easily one of the finest examples you will see. It has retained its original shape and structure perfectly and the edges are super clean with just one tiny and barely visible indent in the centre of the two bottom edges. So minor it is hardly worth a mention! The wide spine for once has no wear including the corners and the right hand corners are also in superb shape with only a tiny crease top right. The opening edges are close to perfect with hardly any handling wear and the front cover is beautifully clean with no marking, just one tiny indent. The back cover is also in lovely condition with just one very faint line mark. The inside of the gatefold is pristine with no marking or spine wear. This cover has retained its original cream colour so well with no staining or fading whatsoever. A superb example for sure.
The lyric inners have also been so well preserved and 'as new' is about right. There are no side splits or marking, just a minor hint of ringwear as you would expect.
