On offer here is an excellent later pressing of this classic LP which for the majority is still encased in its original shrinkwrap and includes the iconic postcard.
SHVL 814 // A6 / B14 // Mother Stampers G 5 & A 7
Visual grading
Under a very strong bright light there are only a handful of very faint hairlines and only a little spindle wear on the labels. Visually it is in wonderful condition.
Play grading
There is some light crackle on the 'Shine On...' intro but this does decrease by the time the guitar comes in. The remainder of the side plays with wonderful clarity and for the majority plays to a very high standard with only minimal interference. Any static you do hear is not intrusive in my opinion and the depth and richness of sound is excellent and plays without any skips or jumps. Again the intro to 'Welcome To The Machine' has a little crackle but soon dissipates and plays with great clarity. A fantastic listen actually!
There is a few seconds of very light interference at the beginning of 'Have a Cigar' and then plays extremely well with hardly any background noise. 'Wish You Were Here' again plays with some quiet static in the background but the second half in particular plays with excellent audio. 'Shine On part 2' plays very well and the only static you can hear is in the quiet sections but largely unintrusive. The second half plays superbly well with minimal interference and is a real quality listen and the quiet ending plays beautifully.
I know I mention static a lot ! but I grade honestly as my feedback testifies and whilst this vinyl is not perfect it remains an excellent listen. Not many LPs of this age play with no background noise! There are no clicks, pops or jumps throughout.
Cover
The iconic cover is still covered for the majority by the original shrinkwrap, a rarity in itself, with the handshake sticker on the front also. Accordingly the cover is in excellent shape with only minimal shelf wear and the opening edge is very clean with just a tiny area of pinching on the top corner. The spine does have a minor amount of wear at the bottom but the remaining edges are in superb condition with no 'dings' anywhere.Picture sleeve
The cardboard lyric sleeve is in fantastic condition with no wear whatsoever and is practically perfect. Being a later pressing it has four straight edges. I have never seen a better one.
Postcard
The postcard (with straight edges) is in near perfect condition with no creases at all, just one mega tiny barely visible mark towards the top.
