PINK FLOYD - A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS. Vinyl LP record. Catalogue Number: SX 6258. Columbia Records. MONO. 1968. For PINK FLOYD/ SYD BARRETT afficionados this is a very important album. It followed their wonderful debut and contains the last Syd Barrett track, JUGBAND BLUES, recorded with the Floyd. This is the very rare MONO version of the LP and has the 6807 TPS on the rear cover on the laminate fold over sleeve. It has XAX 3634 - 1 on the runout and on the label. From what I've read, this album has never been reissued in mono. It's certainly been well played over the years and has visible scratches and wear. I listened to both sides carefully and there is some surface noise. I don't have a high end turntable and it didn't skip at any point so maybe with a professional record cleaner and a good sound system this would improve things further. Once the music kicked in on side one it covered any concerns I had and the songs were magical. Side two had some quieter periods where I could hear some backing noise but again, once the songs are in full flow any background sounds became secondary. The original owner has written his name and address on the back cover and on the original poly-lined sleeve. There is quite significant ring wear on the cover and scratches to the laminate. Also the back cover has creasing around the fold over laminate and ring wear. All in all, it's a very rare, but well played copy. I imagine it being played at a few hippy crash pads back in the day and being used for rolling various substances on. Really great album of its time and especially rare being a first pressing. I've got a later 3rd pressing of this with a black and white Columbia label and catalogue SCX 6258 which I'll use. Please bear the overall condition in mind when bidding and read the text carefully.
