Description
A three song demo cassette from 1990, which the band obviously sent out (successfully, as it happens) to get gigs and record company interest.
The tape is in a slighty battered fold-out cover but it's always been like that, because it looks like they've stuck two sheets together to create it, it being home-produced.
Tape comprises: 'Dress', 'Sheela-Na-Gig' and 'Oh My Lover', and also has the lyrics for 'Dress' and 'Sheela-Na-Gig'.
Band credits run:
P.J.Harvey - vocals, guitar, violin
Olly Oliver - bass
Rob Ellis - drums, vocals
and on another section it adds:
Additional Musicians:
Mike Paine - guitar
Chas Dickie - Cello
Ben Groenevelt - double bass
and 'Cello part on 'Plants And Rags' written by Rob Ellis (there is a gap on the song list part, where something has been removed, so I guess they did the seeleves first then ignored a song and made it a tree song demo).
Recorded September 1990 at 'The Ice House' Yeovil
Produced by Mark Vernon
Engineered by Head
and that's it, apart from a homely photo of Polly included on it
It sounds fantastic!
On 22-Oct-04 at 16:04:17 BST, seller added the following information:Any item I list here on eBay is a genuine item. I value my reputation as a credible music writer, and the items I am selling are all things I have collected over the years but am now selling this archive to fund two new book projects. I started writing in 1976 with one of the first Punk fanzines, Panache. I then went on to work for music papers – Record Mirror, NME and Melody Maker - for 15 years, as well as editing two national titles, ZigZag and Siren. I have had four books published on Goth and there are more in the pipeline. I write regularly on my own website where I review records most days of the week, I contribute to Starvox, one of the world’s best known online zines, and I also do a free monthly pdf magazine on my website. I pride myself on providing a good service to anyone who buys from me. Anything you get from me is a legitimate item I am free to sell, as received by me from the bands/artist(s) in question and is obviously not a copy I have generated myself. I have, and therefore also understand, the collector mentality myself, and I would never deal in counterfeit rubbish!
