POLL – Poll. Anazitisi Records ARLP/s 70-14. Greek release. NEW UNPLAYED VINYL RECORD ALBUM + 7" VINYL RECORD SINGLE w/PICTURE SLEEVE. Originally issued in 1972. This deluxe edition, officially licensed and remastered, issued in 2007. This item comes housed in an outer resealable sleeve, as shipped by the label and has never been opened (this item ships as received).

NOTE:  There are tiny corner dings on the upper left and right corners of the jacket on this copy (not visible in the photo). The outside resealable sleeve shows some discoloration from storage (I’ve had this stored since its release); no discoloration of the jacket. This is an otherwise new copy at a discounted selling price.

MEMBERS:  Kostas Papaioannou, Nasia Sandi, Stavros Logaridis, Robert Williams, and Kostas Tournas. TRACKS:  Rhythm, Day Break, You Won’t Be Witness, Tell To The Monkey Not To Bother Me With It’s Finger, Helene, As Many Times, A Rainy Day, Mother, As The Winter Goes By, Who Ever Could Believe, and Poll Means Love. DESCRIPTION:  Poll formed in 1971. Moving from hippie-rock to electric folk-rock they managed to get themselves in the top ranks of the Greek 70's rock pantheon. Both of their albums (originally released on Polydor) contain well-structured songs with lyrics of high sensitivity. Acoustic, electric and 12-strings guitars, organ, piano, percussion, and drums along with a lot of harmonies from the male and female vocalists. But also the covers of their albums were amazing and inventive! Their first album, Anthrope (1971), had a flaxen bag (burlap) -like the peasants' knapsacks- as a cover and included a poster and a lyrics booklet. Their second, self-titled (1972), album was recorded at the same time that the band was ready to split. Inside its gatefold cover there was an attached 12-page comic book where the 4 members of the group members were portrayed as "superheroes". The story of the comic (made by Kostas Tournas himself) was about the short life of POLL, from their birth until their final recordings. Just after the split, Kostas Tournas released his magnus opus Aperanta Chorafia and some months later, Stavros Logaridis presented Akritas. Poll issued two of the best Greek rock albums ever. This edition, licensed by Universal Music, has been lovingly issued reproducing the original art work and packaging and pressed on 180g vinyl with the original Polydor labels. As a bonus there is also a 7” single of two non-album tracks that faithfully reproduces the original picture sleeve and Polydor label. Also includes 2 full color insert cards (over size postcard and on heavy cover stock). Quite an impressive and incredible release. Though I couldn’t find a specific number, the press run on this label’s releases is extremely low, somewhere between 500 and 700 copies, and in some cases as low as 100 copies have been pressed. An instant collector’s item.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.
