POPOL VUH - Hosianna Mantra. Wah Wah Records LPS 118. Spanish release. NEW VINYL RECORD ALBUM + 7". NOTE:  There is a small crack in the cover slick, lower left corner; this is as it was received, hence a slightly lower selling price. Originally issued in 1972. This edition issued in 2013. Remastered from the original master tapes. Comes in a laminated gatefold cover with a liner note insert with photos plus a color poster insert, housed in a clear outer resealable mylar sleeve; as shipped by the label. Includes a bonus 7” with picture sleeve and 2 tracks. Limited to just 500 copies. MUSICIANS:  Florian Fricke (piano, harpsichord, cembalo), Conny Veit (guitar), Robert Eliscu (oboe), Djong Yun (vocals), Klaus Wiese (tambura), and Fritz Sonnleitner (violin). TRACKS:  Ah!, Kyrie, Hosianna Mantra, and Das 5. Buch Mose __ Abschied/Segnung/Andacht/Hoch Im Himmel/Andacht. BONUS TRACKS, as by Djong Yun:  Maria (Ave Maria) and Be In Love (Du Sollst Lieben). DESCRIPTION:  With its religious theme it shouldn't be heretic to consider Hosianna Mantra as a small miracle. Suddenly the dark, unmelodic Popol Vuh offer us an incredibly beautiful work of amazing gothic folk that, this time, fit perfectly in the Pilz musical catalog __ yet managing to sound as something completely unique. This is Popol Vuh’s third album, originally released in 1972 and featured a host of musicians that included Conny Veit on guitars, Robert Eliscu on oboe, Djong Yun on vocals, and Klaus Wiesse on tamboura, led of course by Florian Fricke who played piano and cembalo. This Wah Wah edition features a bonus 7" with a picture sleeve that reproduces the original, rare 45 by Korean soprano Djong Yun featuring Du Sollst Lieben and Ave Maria, written by Bettina Fricke and backed by Popol Vuh; this is the only known solo release by Djong Yun. Reissued from the master tapes on a quality vinyl pressing, laminated gatefold cover and featuring the bonus 7" plus an insert with liners and photos and an additional color poster insert. Limited to 500 copies worldwide.

Wah Wah proudly presents the ultimate reissue series of the Popol Vuh discography (these include the first 5 Popol Vuh albums at present), made in coperation with Florian Fricke's family and SPV:  High quality pressings, most with rare bonus tracks, all include inserts with liners & rare period photos, high quality laminated gatefold and single pocket covers that faithfully reproduce the original artwork, and remastered from the original tapes __ top class legit editions for one of the big names in Kraut music. Popol Vuh, the name, comes from the Mayan civilization and is the title of a corpus of mytho-historical narratives and writings of the Post Classic K'iche' kingdom in Guatemala's western highlands which tells the story of (their) creation. The title translates as Book of the Community, Book of Counsel, or more literally as Book of the People. Popol Vuh, the group, led by pianist and keyboardist Florian Fricke, was formed in 1969 and stayed active until Fricke's death in 2001. In 1969 Fricke joined forces with Holger Trülzsch (percussion) and Frank Fielder (synthesizer, recording engineer and technical assistance) and they soon became one of the most interesting bands of Kraut music's avant-garde, being pioneers in sounds that have later been categorized as ambient music, space / cosmic music or New Age music. From 1973, and for many years onward, former Amon Düül II drummer and guitarist Daniel Fischelscher became his main musical partner. Fricke also produced many soundtrack works for the movies of Werner Herzog.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers.

RETURN POLICY:

Any item that must be returned is done so at the buyer’s expense. Any refund, exchange, or substitution/credit will be at the buyers choice, but not made until the original item is received back by me; in the condition as stated in the item description.  

NON-ARRIVAL OF PACKAGES:

It has been several years since I’ve had a package not make its US destination, so risk is minimal.

INTERNATIONAL Customers:  Please wait at least 3 weeks from my confirmed shipping date before contacting me about the non-arrival of your package. If security is your concern please have your package registered (see above for fee). I do my best to quickly post packages, but once the package is in the hands of the world’s postal systems it is beyond my control. With first class mail international my only option for investigating the loss of your package is to verify that it left this country to its destination country. Most all delayed/lost packages have disappeared/been delayed after they have reached their destination country. NOTE:  Based on recent buyer feedback, International packages have been moving much slower these days; it is not unusual for a package to take over three weeks for delivery (especially to Italy), though normally packages should arrive in 7 to 15 business days.
