POPOL VUH - In den Garten Pharaos
A super copy of this 1971 German1st press krautrock rarity
Year/Label : 1971 GERMANY PILZ Label number : 20 21276-9 Matrix numbers : A - 0547 A1 / C3A, A - 0547 B1 / C3ASolid very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl (to be more accurate side 1 is a solid very good plus and side 2 a solid excellent ) - flat and weighty and retaining it's original wonderfully impressive jet black sheen, with a few wispy hairlines and the occasional very small and extremely fine paper scuff on each side only identifiable by close scrutiny under a bright light...nothing feelable and each appearing to be superficial, though on side 1 there are two very short passages (each less than 30 seconds) of very, very light rotational clicking (certainly nothing nasty here) so probably not quite purely superficial on side 1 and hence the "VG+" and not "EX" for side 1. The labels are in excellent plus (EX+) condition - near perfect actually, with the only marks being just a couple of very small and extremely faint (barely visible) spindle trails next to the centre hole on each. A truly excellent plus (EX+) condition German 1st press fully laminated (outside and inside) outer gatefold sleeve. The edges are firm with no scuffing (just x2 tiny light nicks on thebottom reverse side edge and one on the spine) including a rigid spine with all spine text remaining perfectly intact. The corners remain perfectly defined right angles with no rubbing, the opening edges are firm with no fraying, and all colours, art work and photos remain beautifully vibrant with crisp 100% definition. There is no cardboard creasing, no unwanted writing, and the interior of the gatefold is perfect apart from the inevitable very thin strip of vertical laminate lift adjacent to each side of the spine. There is a very small area of laminate lift on the top edge towards the top right corner and just a few 1cm laminate "crinkles" adjacent and perpendicular to the spine on each of the front and reverse sides. Apart from these very minor aberrations, perfect! What an iconic gatefold this is, and this copy remains in truly outstanding condition. Hard to believe that this vinyl and gatefold are 54 years old! Excellent (EX) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, distortion or background crackle - great tone, wonderful clarity and a great listen throughout. Side 2 is flawless with not a click or nano-second of crackle in sight; side 1 is similar but not quite up to that level due to a little very light and background rotational clicking towards the beginning and again about two thirds of the way through side 1 : close inspection reveals a tiny non-feelable hairline to be the cause in each case. - each very minor (less than 30 seconds in each case) and certainly insufficient to impinge upon a great listen. Comes with original and excellent (EX) condition poly-lined plain white inner sleeve with no splits, no edge fraying, no unwanted writing, barely any age discolouration, and just a little mild creasing in one corner. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. One of the most sought after krautrock German 1st pressings - so difficult to get hold of, especially in such truly excellent condition as this.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
