Natural Information Society are back with 37 minutes of hypnotic chaos and ritualistic groove. Lisa Alvarado's harmonium, Jason Stein's bass clarinet, Mikel Patrick Avery's drums and Joshua Abrams on guimbri spin dense, overlapping patterns that twist and stretch through dub-warped post-production. With pulses of Chicago house and Lisbon's intricate rhythms sneaking in, there are no guest solos, just the studio itself as co-conspirator and being these sounds to mutate in timbre and time. It's messy, yes, cosmic, certainly, and an intoxicating meditation all at once. So much happens over both sides of this vinyl that repeated listens are a must.
