Very rare original mono pressing, which has come to be regarded as one of the most prized mono ‘progressive’ albums of all time.
This is a very strong example. The record grades strong Near Mint, offering superb sound with dynamic audio and clarity throughout. It is the best copy I have ever seen. It has the original EMI advertising sleeve, EX and the gatefold is very clean and crisp, with just the slightest of edge wear and light creasing, again near EX.
Musically, one of the most wonderful concept rock albums ever issued.

Labels
Columbia black and blue first issue with the deeply textured surfaces, often referred to as ‘orange peel’ style. Both are clean with only very light and faint spindle marks. EXCELLENT
Gatefold Cover
Front and back laminate which wraps around the closed edges and inside and ends on the four external interior flipbacks. Genuine 1st issue mono SX 6306 original, printed and made in England by Ernest J. Day. Both sides retain full, shiny and clear laminate with no lifting or blisters. A very few fine and light surface or pressmarks marks, and a few fine edge creases. A couple of creases on the. The graphics are impressive, vivid and fresh – barely any traces of discolour to the white front, and the back remains a superb intense rich black.
Cover Inner Gatefold: Impressive, with the clean whiteness of the original un-laminated interior. All four flip-backs have no damage. Only minimal toning to the flip-back ends. The top and bottom edges have little/no wear and retain full laminate that is shiny and smooth. The spine and Text are clean and clear with no laminate splitting that often occurs. All the text is present and unworn, fractionally sunken into the natural forming central crease but very solid, straight with minimal compression.
An excellent example considering it is near 50-years-old too.
Inner Sleeve
Little to fault. Few of these old unlined inners will remain in such fine condition with such a heavy record inside all these years. The edges are intact and with hardly any creasing. This has the early ‘Patents Applied For’ text. EXCELLENT.
Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading
This is an excellent example that has not been played ‘many times’. It is virtually unmarked, pristine and the closest to near mint example I have seen. Even under a bright light there are no visible marks. This is a very pleasing visual copy that is exceptionally clean with the elusive ‘just pressed’ fine shine, intense black and very heavily pressed. To see records of this era in this condition after nearly 50 years is quite remarkable. It tracks effortless and plays very well with all of it’s quality sound fully intact and enjoyable. EXCELLENT AND NEAR MINT.
Sound Quality and Audio Grading
This massively pressed, rare masterpiece, plays superbly throughout. Strong, very dynamic and punchy sound and all sharp, clear and focused –There are NO pops, clicks or cutting noises, the playing surfaces are free from marks. True audiophile standard, this has survived those heady days magnificently well and is one of the best copies you will ever find. This mono original will prove near impossible to find better and can be highly recommended. A very rare opportunity to own an early-pressed near mint copy on vinyl.
