PRIMAL SCREAM - COME AHEAD
'Come Ahead' is Primal Scream’s 12th full length record, pressed exclusively to 2 x split Red and clear LP with yellow splatter, limited to 750 copies and hand-numbered to order.
The songwriting process for Come Ahead began in 2019. At which point Bobby Gillespie had no idea if he would make another Primal Scream album again. For the first time, the lyrics came before the music. The story came first.
Bobby wrote alone, using an acoustic guitar. Ideas flowed fast, in long bursts of inspiration. This process, in tandem with encouragement from producer David Holmes, provided a new way in. Working with Holmes and Primal Scream guitarist Andrew Innes, the Come Ahead sessions were completed between Belfast, London and Los Angeles.
“I'm very excited about this album in a way that you would be making your first record. If there was an overall theme to Come Ahead it might be one of conflict, whether inner or outer. The title is a Glaswegian term. If someone threatens to fight you, you say, ‘come ahead!’ It’s redolent of the indomitable spirit of the Glaswegian, and the album itself shares that aggressive attitude and confidence. They have a word for this up there, gallus. Come Ahead’s quite a cheeky title too.” Bobby Gillespie.

Come Ahead è il 12° disco completo dei Primal Scream. 11 nuove canzoni che vedono Bobby Gillespie prepararsi a pubblicare alcuni dei brani più personali della carriera della band. Il processo di scrittura delle canzoni per Come Ahead è iniziato nel 2019. A quel punto Bobby Gillespie non aveva idea se avrebbe realizzato un altro album dei Primal Scream. Per la prima volta, i testi sono venuti prima della musica. La storia veniva prima di tutto. Bobby scriveva da solo, usando una chitarra acustica. Le idee scorrevano veloci, in lunghe raffiche di ispirazione. Questo processo, insieme all'incoraggiamento del produttore David Holmes, ha fornito una nuova via d'accesso. Lavorando con Holmes e il chitarrista dei Primal Scream Andrew Innes, le sessioni di Come Ahead sono state completate tra Belfast, Londra e Los Angeles. Sono molto emozionato per questo album, come lo saresti tu al tuo primo disco. Se ci fosse un tema generale per Come Ahead sarebbe quello del conflitto, sia interiore che esteriore. Il titolo è un termine glasvegese. Se qualcuno minaccia di combattere contro di te, tu dici: Vieni avanti!. È un'espressione che ricorda lo spirito indomito dei Glaswegian, e l'album stesso condivide questo atteggiamento aggressivo e di fiducia. Lassù hanno una parola per questo, gallus. Come Ahead è anche un titolo piuttosto sfacciato. Bobby Gillespie.
