Description

PRINCE BUSTER ALL STARS ‘IT’S BURKES LAW JAMAICA SKA EXPLOSION.  1965 Bluebeat BB LP 806

It’s not often one of these 40 year old-originals, comes up for sale and it’s even less often that one surfaces that isn’t completely thrashed.  This one can’t be described as Ex, though by early ska record standards this is in great condition.  If we’re to go by the Record Collector price guide, however, I’ve got to describe it as VG.  I am erring on the side of caution.  There are a few marks, none of which click or could really be described as scratches.  Overall, the vinyl still looks good and plays with no distortion though there is surface noise evident on side two.

The sleeve is in similar condition, there is no damage to the sleeve, the spine and top and bottom spines are unrubbed.  There is a little bit of laminate creasing here and there is a tiny nick in the edge of the sleeve opening.  The rear of the sleeve is written at the top left hand ‘21-1-67 P. Layton’ the whole of which covers only about 1.5 inches.  Some of the track listings have been ticked.  Let’s get this in perspective, though.  Anyone buying this as a VG with an Ex- sleeve will not be disappointed.  I am being very cautious here.  This is a genuine collector’s item.  It’s going to be a while before you see one of these again.  I’ve been collecting for 40 years and this is the first I’ve had in all that time.

Musically, for those who don’t know it, it’s a jamboree bag of fantastic, gutsy dance tunes of the day; raw, earthy, balsy ska.  It doesn’t come any better.
