PRINCIPAL EDWARDS MAGIC THEATRE - THE ASMOTO RUNNING BAND- The second album by the ingenious PEMT  proclaiming & pre-dating the current climate issues. 
This record was purchased from One Stop Records, South Molton St London W1. In early spring of 71.  It is an original DANDELION Records issue (The label being named after one of the hamsters owned by co-founder John Peel)  With the full Dandelion logo on one face, with PEMT Side Three printed, & the full track listings on the other face entitled The Asmoto Side (3) & The Gambini Side (4)  Emphasising a continuation from their previous album "Soundtrack" Identification is as follows :-- Matrix/Runout (Stamped) : Side 3 DAN 8002 A1 :Side 4 DAN 8002
Valued by RCM at £40(M) & £32(EX). I have seen it advertised at over £50 for an equivalent (EX) copy. 
The record is graded between Excellent (EX) and Very Good (VG)  It has no visible surface marks or scuffs & plays without issue, but with the odd click. The label information is perfect & there is no hole distortion. It is in excellent condition of its age 50 years 
The Cover is graded Good (G) It is a gatefold variant with designs & photos by Hipgnosis Art Group London. The outer cover depicts a model, possibly about to assend the stairs of a theatre.The inner faces depicts a close up of footprints coming from a great distance in mud or sand. With the tracks & lyrics printed in white on the inner faces. There are some minor indentation marks and hairline creasing visible when the cover is held to the light, but overall, the cover is in excellent condition for its 50 year age.  There is some wear on the outer spine as shown. 
The Paper Sleeve has some age colouring around the periphery, but otherwise, is in excellent condition. 
The Producer was Nick Mason & an (Alexis Korner Production) & the Engineer was the A1 (Rory Gallagher), Robin Sylvester
The Album was recorded at Tangerine Studios, Kingsland Road, Dalston, London & released in January 71.  
The musicians playing on this album were  :-- Belinda Bourquin (Vocals Violin Recorder Keyboards),  David Jones (Bongos,Congas,Percussion), Jeremay Ensor (Bass), Martin Stellman (Vocals & Effects), Roger Swallow (Drums & Percussion),  Root Cartwright (Guitars), Vivian McAuliffe (Vocals).  
The equally important individuals, involved with lights, theatre & dancing, are listed on the back cover of the album. 
Having produced their first amazing album. PEMT embarked on a new set of songs with this original scheme instigated by Martin & David. Side Three was entitled the Asmoto Side & Side Four entitled the Gambini Side. The album title was a play upon a private joke, regarding a rodie's poorly written comment, that  they should be  "A Smooth Running Band"  Root Cartwright observed that the Asmoto Side was a comment regarding the the absolute necessity of green concepts & issues. Well before the current green perspectives. 
Following a residency at  the Hamstead Theatre Club & additional live performnces, combining the amalgam of rock & theatrical activities. In December of 1971, there came a split between the fringe theatre aspect & the rock aspect of the original PEMT group, caused by  tensions between the two factions, together with financial difficulties.  Consequently,  Root, David & Belinda. Formed a new band with additional musicians. Richard Jones, Geoff Nicholls & Nick Pallett & an abbreviated name "Principal Edwards". Which followed a new more rock orientated direction.
PEMT were pioneers of combining rock music & theatrical performances. Like many bands of the 1970s & 80s Their creativity & enginuity, was unfortunatly, never given the respect or financial security  it richly deserved. 
Some observations on Grading :-
MINT (M) The RECORD is in brand new condition, no surface marks, no sound quality deteration. Records designated sealed or un-played qualify as mint.  EXCELLENT (EX) The RECORD shows some signs of being played, but with minimal lessening of sound quality. The COVER &/or packaging may show slight wear &/or creasing.  VERY GOOD (VG) The RECORD has obviously been played many times, but manifests no sound quality deterioraton. Despite noticeable surface marks &/or light scratching.  Visible wear & tear on the COVER or additional items, without major defects, is acceptable.  GOOD (G) The RECORD has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, pehaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The COVER and contents may suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.  FAIR (F) The RECORD is still just playable, but has not been cared for propery and displays considerable  surface noise; it may even jump. The COVER and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
