Description
Excellent, guaranteed original, 1967 Folk LP by MARVIN PAYNE entitled "At The Gate" on Custom Fidelity Records (#1678, MONO). This is an original copy of this incredible acoustic folk album! Contract pressed by The Custom Fidelty Company of Pasadena, CA. Info from Marvin Payne: "That album was recorded live straight through one night in the summer of 1967 in a chapel on the grounds of a private school in a forest near Carmel, California. I was working there at a summer retreat for student musicians, a thing called Hidden Valley Music Seminars (still in operation, apparently). Some of the folks there wanted to have a recording of the songs I would sing around the dorms late at night, so I got some friends together, a couple of the students, and a couple of the faculty, and made one. I think we pressed maybe a hundred copies. It was never conventionally distributed, most copies were given away at the retreat. It was never reissued." This is the first recorded work by Marvin Payne, not even mentioned on his website; 4 years before "Ships Of Dust." Condition: Cover - solid VG+ (light wear, no seam splits), Record = solid VG/VG+ (light paper scuffs - plays through fine though!, LISTEN TO AN ACTUAL SOUND CLIP!).
