Description
Here’s a very special Elvis LP. I’ll bet you’ve never seen a promotional copy of Elvis Presley’s first album. (Also, see my other auction this week for a promo copy of Elvis’ 2nd LP from the same collection!) This album came from the collection of a radio station DJ, and features a special “RCA Victor Popular Album Release Service” promotional sticker on the back. It also has all the indications of being from the very first run of pressings of this album in 1956. Both matrix numbers end in “1S”. Also, the side one label has the early “error” writer’s credit of “P.D” on the song “Just Because”. For some reason, they label didn’t know who wrote this song, so they simply listed it as “public domain”. When the actual writers of the song caught wind of this oversight and requested to be paid, the label credit was changed. This copy is in nice condition, being kept in the collection of a DJ- as opposed to the typical “teenager owned” copies of this album! The vinyl grades a strong VG+ to VG++, no scratches, just a few hairlines here and there from sliding around in the cardboard sleeve over the years. The cover has a small seam splits on the three sides, nice graphics on the front, and a last name written on the back. The labels have some spindle marks. For those interested, the full matrices are G2 PP1282-1S and G2 PP1283-1S. Drop me a message if ebay doesn’t calculate shipping for you. Happy bidding!!
