ZZ TOP'S "WORLD WIDE TEXAS TOUR"

The Worldwide Texas Tour was a concert tour by American rock band ZZ Top. Launched in support of their 1975 album Fandango!, the tour visited arenas and stadiums from 1976 through 1978. The tour was intended to bring Texas culture to a national audience. In contrast to ZZ Top's sparse setups from previous tours, the Worldwide Texas Tour was an elaborately staged event. The stage featured several props like live animals and plants, along with a Texas-shaped stage. In contrast to previous ZZ Top tours, each of the Worldwide Texas shows featured more original material than covers.

With three legs and 89 shows, the tour began in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on May 29, 1976 and ended in Fort Worth, Texas on December 31, 1977. The tour was generally well received and gained positive reactions from critics. Along with being one of their highest-grossing tours and breaking concert attendance records, Worldwide Texas sold around 1.2 million tickets over its three legs. The band's 1976 album Tejas was recorded during a break in the tour, and its songs were played the following year. The Worldwide Texas Tour is regarded as one of the most memorable tours in rock history—Billboard called it "one of the most ambitious and extensive concert treks ever undertaken by a rock group".
