Reluctantly I'm finally making the move to sell my entire record collection.

Thirty years of collecting vinyl is finally taking its toll on my living space.

I HAVE CHOSEN TO COMMIT MYSELF TO PLAY TESTING ALL MY VINYL. BECAUSE OF THIS MY LISTINGS WILL BE UPGRADED IN BULK RUNS WHEN I HAVE HAD THE TIME TO CHECK THEM ALL. FEEL FREE TO ADD ME AS A FAVOURITE SELLER TO KEEP UP TO DATE WITH CURRENT LISTINGS. I HAVE A WIDE SELECTION OF RECORDS THAT WILL BE COMING UP, INCLUDING MANY EARLY PRESSINGS OF CLASSIC ALBUMS.

Sleeve

The sleeve has been very well looked after and retains a great luster, and has no creasing. All sides are solid with no splits. The corners are all sharp and the opening edge is flat and perfect. It grades an easy excellent plus which is my highest grade for a sleeve that isn’t brand new. The sleeve has two stickers which differs from standard copies which usually have the one “First time on vinyl..and it’s pink” . Here we also have the circular “P – Promotional , not for sale” sticker. I’m going to give this a grade of excellent plus.

Inner sleeve: N/A. I will provide a plain white inner sleeve for protection in transit.

Labels

Side one is excellent plus side two is excellent as there is a very small circular mark which looks like a factory flaw. Neither side has any spindle marks, no writing, and no dirty marks or stickers.

Side one audio grade

Right, I’m going to be writing notes here as I listen to both sides straight through. It is my goal to be as accurate as possible. Nice quiet intro. Nice loud and clear mix. No crackle or background noise. No clicks or pops, and definitely no jumps or skips. It sounds super and I give it an easy excellent plus grade.

Side one visual grade

If any marks show up during playback I would have mentioned them above in the audio grading. Well, I’m pleased to say that I can see no marks at all. The pink vinyl looks glossy and fresh. It looks like a rarely play side. I’m happy to give this a grade of excellent plus that is my highest visual grade for a not new disc.

Side two audio grade

Ok, let’s give it a whirl. Again, nice and loud. Some very mild background noise in the silent lead in. Nothing audible once the track starts. There is no continuous background noise. I did hear some very mild crackle ,way in the back just at the start of the first verse that sounded like some dust. Again an ever so tiny bit of crackle for a second in the outro.No pops, and no repeating clicks. I am grading this side as excellent.

Side two visual grade

If any marks show up during playback I would have mentioned them above in the audio grading. Happy to tell you that again like side one this is a fresh looking side with no defects. Grading here is another excellent plus.

POINT TO NOTE: Taking a close look whilst it is spinning on the turntable I see that there is a very slight wave to the vinyl. Not altogether uncommon for coloured vinyl or picture discs. It is in no way a seriously buckled disc. I am just noting this for total accuracy. It does not affect the audio in any way at all.

Final thoughts.

This is a very well preserved copy, played only a handful of times, most likely an easy final upgrade if you are collecting the set and want the best you can get. The added bonus of being a promo is appealing too. The sound quality is very high throughout, with no deterioration over time. The sleeve is in superb condition making this a very desirable copy of this fine single.

GRADING

I use the U.K Rare Record Guide grading system detailed below.

MINT The LP or single is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT The LP or single shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD The LP or single has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and an occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and contents without any major defects.

GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

POSTAGE

All records come with a protective poly sleeve, and new white inner. Records are shipped outside of the sleeve within reinforced cardboard packaging to ensure safety during transit.
