RARE & OUT OF PRINT 2009 US deluxe reissue 16-track 2-LP set pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Originally released in 1998, Pulp's This Is Hardcore, was at once the artistic pinnacle of 90s Brit-pop, and the genre's comedown record, marking the end of an era with its ruminations on growing old (Jarvis Cocker wrote and recorded the album at the age of 33, which may also explain the album's Jesus fixation), fearful, and bitter. Drawing influence from Bowie and Roxy Music, rather than the Stones and Beatles, Cocker crafted one of the darkest yet anthemic albums of all time. An absolute masterpiece. 

This album contains the 12 track English version, minus “ Like A Friend ”, but does contain bonus tracks “ Tomorrow Never Lies ”, “Laughing Boy”, “ The Professional ” and “ This Is Hardcore (end of the line remix)”. The cover photo was art directed by Peter Saville and the American painter John Currin who is known for his figurative paintings of exaggerated female forms. The images were further digitally manipulated by Howard Wakefield who also designed the album. Currin was also the art director for the “ Help the Aged ” video, based on his painting “ The Never Ending Story ”. Advertising posters showing the album's cover that appeared on the London Underground system were defaced by graffiti artists with slogans like “ This Offends Women ” and “ This is Sexist ” or “ This is Demeaning ”.

Housed in a beautiful gatefold package.

This set is factory sealed. The shrink wrap is still intact and the jacket is also in pristine condition.

• It is imperative the goods are returned with the original packaging/unopened/undamaged and returned by the same method they were despatched to you (i.e. recorded delivery/registered post etc.). Please retain your proof of posting. I will of course refund your return postage costs up to the value of the despatched postage costs unless instructed otherwise. Overseas customers should not return any damaged goods to me in the first instance, but await my instructions.
