PURE HELL - NOISE ADDICTION - LIMITED ALBUM - SEALED - COLOURED VINYL.


Up for grabs is this Limited edition album by the vastly underated American all black punk band Pure Hell.


They were probably the first ever African-American Punk band, formed in Nancy Spungen's  home state of Philadelphia in 1974 they spent their time trying to make it big by regularly playing in New York City, eventually becoming friendly with the New York Dolls and even playing as support band to Sid Vicious in 1978 after he had relocated there crashing out and shooting up in the Chelsea Hotel with Nancy.


Sid Vicious really liked the band and told them that playing the UK where punk was still massive could really help them make it big, however this London jaunt turned out to be the last hurrah for Pure Hell as on this trip they fell out badly with their manager, he then simply walked away and refused to release their recently recorded album.


Even a well-received UK tour and an appearance alongside the ascendant Subs at the Lyceum couldn't stop them splitting up on their return stateside.


All they left behind was one single, a cover of the Nancy Sinatra song “These Boots Are Made For Walking”/”No Rules”.


Their album though would eventually see the light of day and be released albeit 25+ years too late, crammed with the punk flavour of Max's Kansas City and the gritty, seedy feel of 70's New York it really is a long lost classic punk album, their song “The Girl With The Hungry Eyes”, was written about Nancy Spungen, who charismatic lead singer Kenny Gordon knew from as far back as his Philadelphia schooldays.


This is simply an essential album, I have also added two pictures of the band with Sid Vicious taken at Max's when they played support for him but these are not included.
