Previously, Defected's popular House Masters series of artist retrospectives has focused on UK and US producers who've been serving up quality cuts for decades. Here they take a sideways step to drill down on the career of German nu-disco don Tino Piontek aka Purple Disco Machine. It does a good job in rounding up killer cuts from across his career - as well as vital remixes he's laid down over the years. Highlights are plentiful, from his throbbing, Moroder influenced tweak of Shakedown's 'At Night', an extra-colourful re-wire of Claptone & Mylo's 'Drop The Pressure' and the hands-aloft brilliance of 'In My Arms', to the muscular electro-disco throb of 'Beat Fantasy', the freestyle revivalism of his take on Fallout's 'The Morning After' and killer tribute to Man 2 Man featuring Man Parrish, 'Dished (Male Stripper)'.
