THIS is part of a collection of promo vinyl that I'll be listing over the next few months. It comes from a prominent 1990s NME journalist. 

THIS SUPER RARE RECORD is a white label test pressing 12" of Armageddon by tribal outfit Purple Om, that was manufactured for the artist in 1991 or 1992. This WLTP is the only physical format/release EVER for each of the five mixes Of Armageddon, although a different mix appeared on the Liquid Dub Volume Seven compilation CD.

No other recordings have been made under the name of Purple Om. This is the ONLY Purple Om vinyl pressing. It's a rather mysterious record, created by Nick Dixon & Simon Posford, and it has no proper record label or catalogue number; the run out etching simply reads PO PROMO 1. One label is stamped with artist name and title, the other has a hand drawn or hand stamped logo/design in purple. It is housed in a generic black, die cut paper sleeve. The five mixes total approximately 37 minutes and the record plays at 33rpm.

Also included is what appears to be a hand written PROMO PAGE, which I've redacted in my photo to preserve its rarity for the winner of this auction. It is dated July 1992 and includes the names of the five mixes (previously not in the public domain to my knowledge) and two contact phone numbers with the (different) contact number on the label being scribbled out. It also notes a live date with Eat Static and DJs including Youth & Alex Paterson.

CONDITION: Near Mint SHINY VINYL, NO SIGNS OF USE OR HANDLING but may have been played carefully at time of release before being stored. (I don't grade plain or generic sleeves or additional items such as press releases, which are as seen in the photo(s)).

WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSINGS: Produced for the record label in very small quantities (sometimes as few as 10) to check that there are no faults in the mastering or pressing processes. Sometimes there are enough pressed for promo purposes (typically around 50-100).

NOTE: I am the first and only owner of everything I list unless stated otherwise. Everything I list is on a similar coloured blue/purple background so that you know they are my own photos.

PACKAGING: Mailing envelope designed for 12" records with an additional cardboard stiffener.
