Description

"Traditional Bard and the Future Inevitable" LP by Pagan Bo (also known as Pagan Beau). Vinyl: MINT condition, Sleeve: GOOD+ condition


This is the album written & performed by Kevin Hobbi of Hobbies Of Today, a band which had formed as a punk outfit in early 1977, and who had recorded a storming 3 track EP which sadly was not released at the time (it's a long story...), but which eventually gained release in 2014.  


The mk1 lineup of the band dissolved in mid 1977, and by 1979, mk 2 of Hobbies Of Today had recorded and issued the awesome "Metal Boys" 7" single.  Between the mk 1 and mk 2 versions of Hobbies Of Today, lead guitarist and main songwriter Kevin Hobbi decided to record and release the Traditional Bard LP, via the tiny Planet Records label, of Doncaster, South Yorkshire.  The songs are in effect the Hobbies Of Today live set, performed mainly acoustically, and with a little help from other local musicians (including Stuart Holey, also of Hobbies Of Today).  


300 records were pressed, each one housed in a DIY stencilled hand numbered sleeve, with typed tracklist stuck on the reverse.  The record sold modestly upon release, but over the years, to save storage space, an unknown number were jettisoned as Kevin moved between locations.


The record on sale here is in stunning MINT condition.  The vinyl is UNPLAYED, but the sleeve has suffered slight damage in storage, which has resulted in a small split/tear in the top seam of the thin white card sleeve.  The spray painted content of the sleeve is unaffected - although some very slight darkening of the white card has occurred over the intervening 37 years, the stencil colours look perfect.  See photos for the extent of the sleeve damage.  It's actually not that bad ... but this might be a reason NOT to buy it, if you are looking for a perfect example, and as I grade conservatively, I'd rate the sleeve as only GOOD+
