You are looking at a CLASSIC Blue Note release from Paul Chambers. This is a wonderfull session with an unusual instrumentation -- NO HORNS??!!!!
Yes, that's right. I am a sucker for interesting intrumentation and we are not let down at all here with Mr. Chambers decision to select as his quartet:
Kenny Burrell on guitar
Hank Jones on piano
Art Taylor on drums
and of course Paul Chambers on bass....
With a quartet of this calibre, the absence of horns are an asset in the very capable hands of Paul Chambers as the leader. With classic material such as, "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To", "Dear Old Stockholm", & "Yesterdays" how can you miss?
Kenny Burrell shines with his uniquely restrained and crystal clear style. Hank Jones is always so very tasteful on piano, espessially from this era. Whan more can I say about Paul Chambers that has not already been said?
Bass On Top is a magical and very engaging record from the late fifties on the Blue Note label. This is a Japanese STEREO release of the 1500 series in the shrink wrap with the series STICKER instead of OBI specific to the set of CHOICE releases from the Blue Note catalogue.
The Japanese Blue Note pressings are very well known & highly regarded for their attention to quality in mastering, quality vinyl, and replication of the original cover art.
This copy is a VERY SOLID NM/NM LP copy w/insert up for auction.

I package ALL LPs in custom LP boxes with the LP removed from the jacket and placed together in a plastic outer sleeve to prevent any splitting to seams. I pad the LP on both sides as well.
