Description
"McCartney" Apple PCS 7102, 1970
This is an impossible find - on the face of it, it's a first pressing (in a sleeve listing "Apple Records"), but the LP is a stunningly rare Decca press. As far as I can tell this version has not turned up on ebay before (it's not listed on "popsike.com")
As per the Decca contract pressings of other Beatles albums of this period, notably an export issue of the 2nd Parlophone PPCS version of "Abbey Road", the label on this LP has the indented ridge 3mm from the perimeter, and NO Stamper letters positioned 3 O'Clock from the matrix number (or anywhere else)!
The matrix numbers read:
YEX 775-3U 1
YEX 776-3U 1
The labels are the usual dark green apple/half apple with all the usual text.
The LP is excellent condition - plays very well indeed - no marks, jumps or sticks. It still has the "just-made" sheen to the vinyl. The cover is very nice too - a little laminate lift in a couple of places (tiny spots) and a price has been written on a label on the front cover (now removed) you can still see the indentations of the biro mark when you hold it up to the light, but as you can see it's barely visable. The spine is very good - just a small mark along it, which could possibly be cleaned off.
All in all a stunning copy of a stupendously rare LP!
