Description
Paul McCartney RAM AP 80283 Japan 1st Pressing White Label Promo Red Vinyl Top Condition
This is an exceedingly rare White Label Promo Japanese pressing of Paul McCartney’s RAM on red vinyl. This is the stereo version on Apple, AP 80283. As you may know, White Label Promos were pressed after the test pressings and sent to various radio stations. In viewing the labels in the upper right section you will note 6/25. This would be the 6th of 25 pressings of this LP. As you can see, there were very few of these pressed and they would have been among the first to come off of the stampers.
The condition is as follows:
• Front and Rear cover are very clean with a few very light creases. Both have full luster with no fading. No seam splits. This is a gatefold cover.
• Record labels are very clean with no spindle wear. There is slight discoloration on the labels that should be visible in the pictures.
• Original 4 page lyric sleeve is provided and is very, very clean with a little discoloration on page 1.
• Vinyl is nearly immaculate on both sides. If you look really close you will notice a couple of wisps on side 1 and 2, none of which affect play at all.
• Play Grade. I rarely play grade but in this case I am, due to its rarity and the price I am asking. I have a VPI MK IV turntable and use a Shure V15 VxMR cartridge that tracks at 1.25 grams. Believe me; it picks up any noise on any record. This LP plays dead quiet with no surface noise, pops, crackles, skips…period. Even in between tracks you will not hear any surface noise. While this promo is decades old, it has received very little play and has been given a great deal of care over the years. And this beautiful burgundy red vinyl is the quietest vinyl I have ever heard. And that includes Quiex, JVC vinyl used by Mobile Fidelity back in the day, and anything that’s out today. This is the most amazing sounding version of Ram I have ever heard in the over 40 years of enjoying it. I own several different versions of this LP and this is hands down the best sounding one of all. No doubt about it.
• Please review the pictures and feel free to ask any questions before placing your bid and good luck in your bidding.
• These don’t come up every day and I hope the winner will enjoy it as much as I have.
About Me
First and foremost, I am a collector and rarely sell anything. This is important to know so you can understand that I realize the importance of proper grading and quality shipping.
I do not give out letter grades like, Mint, VG+, or VG. Instead I will provide accurate grading to describe any flaws on the vinyl and cover so there will not be any surprise(s) for the winner.
This is one of those rare times that I have decided to part ways with a few of my rare records and let someone else be the caretaker of them, and hopefully pass them on in the years ahead. I have been collecting vinyl LP’s since the early 70’s and in most cases was either the original or 2nd owner of what is in my collection.
You will not be disappointed and hopefully enjoy your purchase for years to come. If you have any questions please ask them before you bid.
SHIPPING
You will only be charged for the actual cost of shipping. I do not mark up. I will ship via USPS and will ship with insurance and tracking. While this may be more expensive, it also protects both buyer and seller from damage or loss that may incur during shipping. I will ship internationally but you must realize the expense is much greater so please be prepared.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND PAYMENT UNTIL I SEND AN INVOICE. EBAY'S SHIPPING CALCULATOR IS NOT CORRECT AND HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR YEARS.
The package dimensions will be 13" x 13" x 1.5" with a weight of 1 lb 10 oz. For my non US friends, that will be 30cm x 30cm x 2.54 cm with a weight of approximately 710 grams.
The vinyl will be placed in a poly non-static sleeve and a generic cover shipped outside of the main LP cover to prevent seam splitting. Covers are also in poly sleeves.
