Description
You are bidding on the rare LP:
Pete Pyle and the Mississippi Valley Boys, released by Cattle Records (LP 106 A/B) in Mono in 1987. Made in West Germany.
*Alabaman Pete Pyle was a longtime performer on WSM's Grand Ole Opry throughout the 1940's and was one of the harder-edged Honky-tonkers on the program. Many of the recordings featured here display a very smokin', tough style of Honky-tonk with some fantastic, rippin', twangy guitar pickin', a style that was not very common at all in the 1940's and more associated with the likes of early George Jones, a style which largely came later. Two of these tracks, "Mark Me Off Your List" & "Little Blue-Eyed Blonde Goodbye" (both from 1950), feature a 26 year-old Chet Atkins on electric guitar! Pyle also showcases some fantastic old-time country sounds here, with some very backwoods harmonica accompainiment on "Why Don't You Haul Off and Love Me" and "Think Twice". This is a wonderful collection of rarities originally released on Bluebird, Intro, Bullet and Fortune labels, performed by a man who was very well-known in his day, who unfortunately has since fallen into obscurity.*
The Vinyl is visually graded in VG+ condition. When looked at under a very bright light, the record shows a very rich luster and a few, very light surface marks.
The Cover is graded in VG+ condition, just showing some very minor edge & crease wear.
Shipping is calculated by ebay at the actual cost for you, the consumer. I don't charge any extra fees for material or handling.
For combined shipping, please add $1 for each additional LP you purchase. If you buy many records from me, I can ship them all together in one box, and charge you the actual cost I pay at the post office. International customers, please keep in mind that once you reach 4 pounds (roughly 4 LPs+), 1st Class International is no longer a shipping option, and you must ship Priority or Express.
Insurance is your option as a buyer. International customers, please keep in mind that you can only insure your item if you ship Express, which can be very expensive. Please contact me if you would prefer this option.
Please take a look at my other auctions. I'm finally getting back to listing records with a very large batch of wonderful, rare LP's. These will include lots of Country (old-time Appalachian, obscure Honky-tonk, Hillbilly Bop, and absolute classics from the 1960's), incredibly wild & eccentric Gospel & Blues, a variety of Jazz rarities, International (Irish, a variety of European field recordings, Hawaiian, and some very unique Latin releases) and some Misc records, including Hot Rod sounds, spoken word, private presses, incredibly strange releases and more. Checking out my listings will certainly be worth your time. All of my listings are auctions beginning at $4.95 with no reserve, and these fantastic releases are the real-deal, with the utmost quality. Thanks!
