Peter Bellamy Barrack Ballads of Rudyard Kipling USA L.P. Young Tradition NM

RARE American 1976 Green Linnet/Innisfree Records STEREO pressing of Peter Bellamy’s ‘Sings The Barrack-Room Ballads of Rudyard Kipling’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: Green Linnet/Innisfree SIF 1002).  This album features Bellamy’s interpretations of Kipling’s Barrack-Room Ballads.  It features Chris Birch on fiddle and Tony Hall on melodeon and was produced by the ubiquitous Bill Leader in 1975.  I’d imagine this is an original pressing of this but I cannot be certain (the relationship between the words ‘original’ and American pressings is difficult) however, what I can say is that this features a really decent heavy cardboard sleeve and the record labels are ‘grooved’.  There is a certain weight to the pressing which is largely absent from American (and European) 80s pressings.  This is my personal copy and I’ve never bothered playing it.  It is notable that the sleeve is largely still covered in cellophane.  While there is a tiny amount of grubbiness to the playing surfaces there are only the most sparing number of hairline marks visible under an intense light (perhaps a couple).  I think it would be a bit of a disservice to grade this as anything less than being in NEAR MINT condition.  While dusty is has clearly never seen heavy play (or virtually any play for that matter).  As noted above the bulk of the sleeve is still covered in cellophane which has afforded superior protection.  There really aren’t many flaws worth mentioning and this sleeve essentially looks like NEW.  There are no bends, creases or tears.  One corner is no longer covered in cellophane and this displays the most minimal amount of grubbiness.  The spine has perhaps faded a little but it isn’t obvious.  There is a minimal amount of wear to each of the corners with the bottom left-hand corner perhaps having received a knock.  This is a stunning looking copy and you’d think it was produced/purchased yesterday.  As with the vinyl I think it would be a disservice to grade the sleeve as being anything less than NEAR MINT condition.

Final Remarks

One for both Bellamy and Kipling fans.  This isn’t the easiest item to track down and it is even harder to find it in the condition we have here.  Please check my other auctions for further Blues, Folk and Rock collectables in similarly immaculate condition.  Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader.  I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!).  As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself.  I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light.  Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself. 

Returns Policy

If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt.  The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.

Payment Methods

Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order.  Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal.  Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.

Postage Costs

I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013.  Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00.  Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically.  Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise).  Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required.  I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it?  Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion.  Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).

Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs.  I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.
