Description

Baron Elmo Enterprises proudly presents a classic vinyl slab of raucous free jazz, a neck-breaker of an lp that is guaranteed to blow your mind and possibly your speakers, cooked up hot by the immortal PETER BROTZMANN TRIO: For Adolphe Sax, his debut recording as a leader, released in 1967 by Brotzmann on his own Bro label and sold at his shows until it was picked up and officially issued by the sacred Free Music Production label five years later. This album, dedicated to the inventor of the saxophone, featured a stunning threesome of players – unknowns at the time, but destined to be numbered among the giants of European jazz: Brotzmann (tenor and baritone saxes), Peter Kowald (bass) and Sven-Ake Johansson (drums). Subjecting yourself to the white-hot fury of this music is like getting pummelled senseless by a crank-fuelled heavyweight… and loving it! The raw, screaming sound Brotzman bullies from his horn seems as akin to a force of nature than the chops of a skilled musician. This lp could be thought of as a continental equivalent to Albert Ayler's masterpiece Spiritual Unity, another fierce three-way blowing session that pursues intensity to the heights of spiritual transcendence. Four decades after its release, For Adolphe Sax still crackles and roars with an iron-hard fury that will get your adrenaline cooking like four-alarm chili. This record is in beautiful shape… as is the jacket, but for the presence of a Braille strip left by the previous owner in the upper left hand corner. A $5.00 charge will be added to the winning total for shipment within the USA, $7.00 to Mexico and Canada, $12.00 to anywhere else. We accept PayPal, for those so inclined. No personal checks, please. Thanks for the visit – bid aggressively!
