Description
Spiritual Jazz Holy Grail — Pharoah Sanders' timeless 37-minute masterpiece. A single, hypnotic groove of pure transcendence.
Released December 1971 on Impulse! Records — Black Unity is Pharoah Sanders at the absolute peak of his powers. Recorded in a single session on November 24, 1971, the album consists of one continuous, mesmerising 37-minute composition — split across two sides — that builds into an ecstatic, deeply spiritual groove blending African rhythms, Latin percussion, and free jazz exploration. Featuring an all-star lineup: Stanley Clarke & Cecil McBee (bass), Norman Connors & Billy Hart (drums), Joe Bonner (piano), Carlos Garnett (sax/flute), Hannibal Peterson (trumpet), and Lawrence Killian (percussion). Produced by Lee Young — an essential pillar of the Impulse! spiritual jazz catalogue and one of Sanders' most beloved albums. Gatefold sleeve with the iconic Impulse! artwork. A monumental recording — utterly essential for every serious jazz collection.
