Description
This auction is for an original copy of Pharaoh Sanders' album Izipho Zam (My Gifts) on Strata-East Records (Strata-East, SES-19733, 1973). The session was recorded in 1969, but the record was released in 1973. This is an amazing excursion into dissonant yet melodic free jazz. One of the highlights, at least for me, is hearing the late Sonny Sharrock's guitar playing in this context.
Tracklisting is as follows:
A1 Prince of Peace
A2 Balance
B1 Izipho Zam
I don't know if this the re-issue. Back cover is pasted on, but the inside is grey (definitely not white). The phrases "T.R. 904A" and "T.R. 904B" are etched in the dead wax of Side A and B, respectively. Cover has some small stains and spotted areas (see the pictures). There is wear on both top cover corners, which exposes about 1/4 inch of the underlying cardboard. There is a thin 1.5 inch long black mark near the middle of the spine. I can't tell whether it is due to printing or something else. Otherwise, the cover is in fairly nice shape. Vinyl has some scuffs and scratches, but it is in pretty nice shape as well. Before this auction was listed, the record was cleaned with a VPI machine and re-sleeved in a new Mobile Fidelity Original Master Sleeve. The old unprinted sleeve was discarded.
Record ships in a well-packed cardboard mailer.
