Description
Philips 835 087/8 Hi-Fi stereo Beethoven 9 Markevitch
Philips 835 097 and 088 AY. hi-fi stereo label, first edition, made in Holland. Beethoven 9th symphony. Lamoreux orchestra, Fritz Uhl, Heinz Rehfuss, Hilde Gueden, Aafje Heynis. Oratorienchor KarlsRuhe. Conductor Igor Markevitch.
Very rare edition, possibly the rarest philips hifi stereo records! The recording is great, with much energy and character.
The sleeves of this early edition is almost allways damaged, and this copy is no exception: the laminate is gone and both sleeves have seam splits along the bottom for the whole length, so sleeves are no better than VG.
The records are better, luckily. For most of the time, the records play without any trouble. Record one: side 1 has a light mark, about a cm long, that give a few backgroud ticks during the first movement. Side 2 is Ex or Ex+, with only very faint paper scuffs, not audible. Record 2, side 3: a small mark, about 3 mm gives a few louder ticks during the bass soloist recitative. Side 4 is fine with a light non audible paper scuff. All marks mentioned are minor. These records surely are very much enjoyable, with great sound. overall, the records are very shiny and have light spindle marks.

Grading:
- M: never used. I don't use this grade unless the record is sealed
- NM: No visible or audible faults
- EX: Record has clearly been used, but has no major audible faults, some non sounding marks possible, maybe some dirt or light surface noise (especially on older mono record, surface noise is quite normal).
- VG: Light audible faults, ticks or surface noise
- G: scratches, etc. I don't sell record in this condition, unless they are very special and collectible.
