Up for bid is a rare 7" EP, "Jump Man Jump," by Piano Red. This is an original EP, released by Groove (EGA-3). There is no date on the picture sleeve or interior label, but we are auctioning Piano Red's EP on Groove "EGA-7," which has a date on the picture sleeve of 1956. I am guessing this EP (Jump Man Jump - EGA-3) was released in 1955. Tracks contained on this EP are: Jump Man Jump / Everybody's Boogie / Layin' The Boogie / Just Right Bounce. Here is some extra info from wikipedia:
You can read more about Piano Red on wikipedia. Also, here is a statement from the Billboard Charts, July 2, 1955 I found on the internet:
"Jump Man Jump - Piano Red (Groove, EGA-3) - Here's one of the first EP's put out by the revived Groove label, and it wisely features the strong selling title song, in addition to three others that simply display Piano Red's driving style, mixed with equal parts of humor, brightness, and rhythmic impulse. A good item for the instant R&B package industry and juke ops looking for exciting EP wax."
EP is a solid VG+, with several tiny faint scuffs. There is some light surface noise (some crackle). EP is extremely clean and retains a nice gloss. Stamped matrix info reads F5 PH 3809 1S / F5 PH 3810 1S. Interior labels are extremely clean. Cardboard picture sleeve is VG+, with no seam splits. There is light corner wear on all corners. There is light wear along the top and bottom seams. There are small spots of discoloration on the front and back of the jacket (see pictures). Color on the front remains bright and the front retains a nice gloss. I have found history of only one other copy of this EP having ever been sold on Ebay.
