Description
An original 1st press of Saucerful of Secrets on the UK Columbia label from 1968. Matrix 1/1. Stampers 1-GD/1-RH. The labels are exactly consistent with 1st press and still show the 'Sold In The UK..' statement. They also hold the mildly amusing David Gilmore spelling error [not Gilmour]. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original flipback Garrod & Lofthouse cover with patents pending in the bottom right corner and 'File Under : Popular' in the top-right. Also included is an original Sepia toned Emi inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - nothing troublesome or audible in any way. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. With Floyd anything other than a very clean rendition is going to leave you disappointed and distracted. Thankfully this copy is low-mileage and plays very very clean. Also you're not far from the original master on an early copy like this and you can really hear it in the audio - excellent transparency. Even the very low-key tracks like '..Heart of The Sun'...play CLEAN. Interference is very minor. We picked up a couple of static crackles in a couple of isolated moments, but in reality this is about as clean a copy as you could hope to find.
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has clearly been looked after down the years. A lovely shiny front with only a few thumbnail creases over toward the opening. The rear, which is often the problem area, is very nice indeed. Nice clean surface without ageing. Just one crease toward the opening and a couple close to the spine. Edge wear is very light and even the spine is very good condition with all text legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Very clean and unaged. One small side split has been taped up.
