Description

Released by Tower in the USA, cat # 333; this is “Arnold Layne” / “Candy And A Currant Bun” by The Pink Floyd. Both tracks written by Syd Barrett.

This is the debut 45 by The Pink Floyd. It was released in the USA by Tower in 1967 and is the same as the UK Columbia issue.

I’ve looked at various site to find a bit more information about this picture sleeve, but only found two copies that have surfaced through eBay in the last four years.

The record itself is generally clean. The A-side has a light surface mark near the leading edge running parallel to the circumference of the record. It is very light and makes no difference to the playing of the record. The B-side has some small, light marks that are superficial. There is a mark right on the leading edge that does produce a bit of noise at the very start, but only for a couple revolutions. The record is visually in very good condition, the A-side plays near excellent and the B-side very good.

Now to the sleeve. It is quite damaged but is intact. The bottom seam has split and has ancient tape applied to it. The side seams are also spit and the opening edge is split in a number of places. The sleeve has a tear towards the bottom on one side and in the centre the sleeve is punched through. So not good then! However, it still looks presentable and considering the rarity of the sleeve and record and the chances of finding another copy……….

All of these singles come from the same special source – an original 60’s Top Rank DJ who started in the ballrooms and progressed to radio and record production in the 1970’s. The majority of the collection is mint or unplayed! All of these are one-offs, no duplicates so miss them at your peril! For the full story on the collection, please see our “me” page.

Postage and packing for one record will be £1 UK, £1.80 Europe and £2.50 USA and the Rest of the World. For two records, the costs are still just £1 UK, £2.20 Europe and £3.20 USA and the Rest of the World.

Insurance will be required if the value of the order exceeds £34. If you refuse insurance and the record is damage or goes missing in the post, I’m afraid we cannot be held responsible and will not entertain any claims. UK record delivery is an extra 70p and special delivery is £4.75. Overseas insurance will be either £3.50 or £5.50 dependent upon the value.

Payment by PayPal is preferred for all customers; though I will accept cheques or postal orders for UK customers. Overseas customers must pay by Paypal unless agreed otherwise prior to auction end.

I will combine multiple auction wins to reduce postage costs, so please remember to look at my other singles.
