A very FIRST UK pressing of this awesome Floyd classic with 1G/1G matrices ! UNMARKED surfaces! Mirror like sheen ! TOP aural delivery! Near mint label format! Must be considered a final upgrade of this awesome Floyd classic.

A fantastic addition to any serious vinyl collection .

Garrod & Lofthouse opening gatefold sleeve, normally found ailing in solidarity and heavily worn. The very first issue with Garrod text, printed in lower left of inner face.  One corner have light scuffing ! Other corners are fairly sharp and pointed. Tape residue top left only .  This Hipgnosis cover caused a stir in the seventies with its unusual focus of a Freesian cow and one will be hard pressed to locate a better exhibit of this infamous first issue sleeve. Slight smudge on front face .Remarkable condition with hardly any rubbing or fading on outer gatefold! Ultra clean with light rubbing on spine . No feathering on opening edge. Inner centrefold is faultless ex+ format! Overall a fragile unlaminated sleeve , found better than many- excellent+ condition save for the tape residue on one corner!!

Vinyl

Thick, quality press with surfaces offering a distinctive glossy sheen . Both sides do not have any surface marks save for one , when examined closely and angled against the light. Examined under ordinary light conditions . Appears to be hardly played, possibly three/four times max! .

Labels

No graffiti , rips or tears. No mottling . NO E M I box confirming the earliest first issue of this remarkable album. Excellent+/nr mint- with a very light spindle trace only . No  damage to report !

Harvest Inner sleeve Ex++ condition . Best exhibit of this hard to find Harvest inner advertising sleeve! No seam splits. Hardly handled at all. Ultra clean and fresh. No tears nor rips. Poly lining tight and near perfect. Remarkable condition.

Audio

At least excellent and considerably better in some parts . Phenomenal and the best I have ever heard from this “hard to locate”, first pressing. The music at times is very soft rock, almost mesmeric and there are many extremely quiet passages throughout playback. This is why it is almost impossible to locate a vintage pressing of this release which is respectable. Make no mistake, this vinyl will not disappoint. One mark but it coincides with the rashers of bacon sizzling, so unable to verify if it sounds or not. I certainly did not detect any interference during play! Static is detected, but very occasionally , and does little to affect this superb delivery. There is still dust in the grooves after the vinyl has been lying dormant for so long, and will keep on improving with play. A Floyd master piece indeed and highly collectable.

Fat Old Sun is a very soft, rock lullaby and is transmitted in exceptional style. Just must be heard !!!!!  

Alan’s Psychedelic breakfast is delivered in sensational style . The sizzling of his bacon rashers is all you do hear .The constant dripping of the tap finalises the music and would continue indefinitely, if it were not for the automatic arm on record deck. This main feature again confirms that it appears to be a true, genuine first UK pressing .  Later reissues do not have this variation on playback .
