Description

Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon
1973 UK First Pressing • Harvest SHVL 804 • A-2 / B-2 Matrix

This is a genuine early UK first pressing of one of the most iconic albums ever made, and it’s in exceptional condition for a 53-year-old record.

Key identifying features of this true first pressing:
• Solid blue triangle on the labels (early feature — later pressings have a black outline)
• Navy blue tint to the gatefold sleeve (very early characteristic)
• A-2 / B-2 matrix in the dead wax
• Original early mother/stamper markings: GDM on Side 1 and TD on Side 2 (T=9 / D=0)

The standout feature of this copy is that it came with its original clear plastic protective sleeve, and the famous “Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon” sticker is on the plastic sleeve, not stuck directly onto the gatefold. This is much rarer and far more desirable than copies where the sticker was applied directly to the artwork (which often caused damage over time).

Because of this original plastic outer, the gatefold is in outstanding condition — only the lightest, honest age-related edge wear. No rips, no splits, no writing, no heavy ring wear. It looks fantastic.

Includes:
• Original 1970s posters in mint condition (never hung or creased)
• Original period sticker postcards in near-mint condition (one has a very slight edge curl, otherwise perfect)
• Original black poly-lined inner sleeve included — it has a few tears/rips and has clearly seen better days, but it completes the original 1973 package. I will also include a replacement inner sleeve so you have a clean one for playing.

The Vinyl: The records are glossy and beautiful. Side 1 plays perfectly with no issues. Side 2 sounds fantastic overall — rich, dynamic, and one of the best-sounding early pressings I’ve heard. There are a couple of light skips during “Money”. This is a well-documented manufacturing quirk found on some of the earliest UK A-2/B-2 pressings (not damage or wear).

It’s part of the history of these very first copies. It doesn’t ruin the listening experience and actually makes this copy even more authentic as a true early pressing.

This is the complete original package in the best condition you’re likely to find for a first pressing of this age.

All photos show the exact item you will receive, including close-ups of the navy blue sleeve tint, original plastic outer with sticker, matrix/runouts, mother stampers (GDM & TD), posters, stickers, and inner sleeve.

It will be expertly packed with strong protection for the gatefold, posters, and vinyl, and shipped fully tracked.

UK & international buyers welcome.

This is a proper collector-grade example.

Serious Pink Floyd / prog collectors know how hard it is to find a first pressing this complete and this well-preserved.
