Pink Floyd had 3 early Columbia 45's issues in Australia back in the 1960's, and none of them sold in any quantity at all. All 3 (Arnold Layne/See Emily Play/It Would be So Nice) are extremely hard to locate these days.
The 3rd release, from 1968, as a stock copy, is on offer here now for Pink Floyd collectors world-wide. This rare gem has rarely been offered for sale anywhere until now - it came in 2 formats - the Radio Station "A" Label promotional edition, and a standard stock copy. (Please note that only the 3rd 45 was ever issued in Australia as an "A" Label promo, not the first two, which were issued merely with a red "bullet" sticker embedded in the label to signify a promo copy). Whilst I have seen a few of the "A" Label promotional copies around over the years (and there is not many left I can tell you that), the existence of an actual stock copy of this item was often denied by many collectors "in the know" over many, many, years. When I picked this up 15 years ago, I also never knew that a standard edition actually existed.
What I can tell you is that this is virtually non-existent in this country - it would have been lucky to sell more than a few copies at best, so again this is a one-off opportunity to own a real Pink Floyd rarity.
Details - Australian Columbia D0-8378 It Would Be So Nice/Julia Dream. I will not describe the music as all Pink Floyd collectors will be familiar with this choice piece of 60's psychedelia, particularly the enchanting "Julia Dream.
Grading - A Strong VG+ to EX- - whoever previously owned this did play it a little bit, both sides have very light marks but do not affect play at all. There is a light scuff mark on Side One (again does not affect play), whilst Side Two has been played a little bit more (the owner obviously preferred listening to Julia Dream judging by the comparison of spindle marks on both labels) but still plays with no audible defects.
Comes in original Columbia Australian paper sleeve, standard for all 45's from the period. It was never issued in a picture sleeve, as 99.9% of 45's in Australia were not during the 1960's. This was released exactly 40 years ago now in this country.
There may well be only 2-3 other copies of this item still in existence in the whole country. Serious bids only please.
