- Up for auction is an original pressing of Pink Floyd's "More" soundtrack. This was Pink Floyd's first album after the departure of band member Syd Barret who was replaced by David Gilmour during a transition which occured during their second album "A Saucerful of Secrets." It is a slight departure from the first two albums in content and in the fact that it was also a movie soundtrack. It is a transitional piece in the evolution of Pink Floyd from the Syd Barret sound to the style that would later become the classic Pink Floyd style that most are familiar with. The songwriting collaborations of new band member David Gilmoure and founding member Roger Waters were now forming a sound that was quite unique and would later produce such classics as "Dark Side of the Moon" and " Animals" etc... The importance of David Gilmour's unique guitar style would later be recognized as essential to the Pink Floyd sound.
- This is an original pressing lp on the striped Tower label. "More" was never released on an orange Tower label as the preceding two albums were and the Tower record label, which was a sub-label of Capitol was closed in 1970.
Grade I grade albums conservitively based on Goldmine grading standards.
- Cover VG+ The front cover shows some ringwear and there is a tiny date (about half the size of a dime) written just below the last song title on back cover. (see photo) Aside from these two small issues this is a very solid and attractive cover. The seams and spine are all very firm. Corners are still reasonably sharp. Spine print is bold and clean. NO flaking or splitting anywhere along seams or spine. A little shelf wear along bottom seam but still very firm. The white area you see along the spine in photos is the spine printing which laps over.
- Record NM 9.5 You probably won't find a cleaner "More" lp unless it is still sealed. Though the cover does show some wear, the record is almost like new. Super clean and glossy vinyl. I bought this album in the late 80's and stored it, as I do all my collectible records, in poly inner and outer sleeves. I never played the album so it is possible it was never played unless by a previous owner, it certainly was well cared for. I have inspected it under a very bright light and found NO scuffs or marks on the vinyl. The labels are also clean and sharp with no visible marks or spindle marks. I have decided to sell only because I have two others, one of which is still sealed.
