Greetings All,
Up for sale are two outstanding and timeless LPs from the great Pink Floyd. An original US first pressing of the 1979 masterpiece "The Wall" on Columbia PC2 36183 and an original 1978 Capitol Picture Disc issue of "Dark Side Of The Moon." Two classic and tough to come by LPs in good shape.
As for the records, The Wall is in beautiful VG++ shape. I'd go closer towards an EX/EX- rating, but there are some visible scratches scarcely. It's a beautiful double LP with nice shine and clean surface, play-tested all the way through and cleaned by me personally before listing. It plays from beginning to end with no skips, hums, interruptions to speak of. There are some passages with light surface noise. Definitely standard for an LP of this age though in my opinion.
The Picture Disc for Dark Side is to be fair more of an in-between higher VG- to solid VG rating. It isn't an LP with tons of scratches, but there are visible scratches that don't affect play and are more noticeable visually to the point where I prefer not to give it a VG+ rating. As you can see in photos, the LP still looks clean and has nice shine but they are visible up close. The LP itself plays great and literally plays from beginning to end HOWEVER: there are two small repeats/loops (a first and second) at the VERY END of the record during the last track of Side 2 when the heartbeat comes back. As the record literally is ENDING and the heartbeat gets fainter and fainter, there are two loops (literally within the last 20 seconds). That's right - this looping I speak of literally happens at the very end of the record.
---I want to say there are some respected methods out there for using pencil eraser and cleaning solution to clean looping/repeats out of tracks on an LP but I believe I should leave that up to the future owner (especially as I personally have not performed that process on an LP myself personally). The LP comes in the cover jacket issued with Matrix number SMAS 11163 on the back. Matrix runouts on LP are as follows:
- Matrix / Runout (A-side): SEAX-1-11962 G 1
- Matrix / Runout (B-side): SEAX-2-11902 G-1
The jackets show their wear my friends, no secret. The Wall is in much better shape, some surface breaking to the right side on front and left side on back (see photos). Beautiful rich gatefold with plenty of color and life and minimal spotting, as well as original inner sleeves. Dark Side Of The Moon cover jacket is in much worse shape, with the right half of the gatefold pretty beat up. The left half/gatefold side is still well put together and houses the LP but has lots of surface tear and wear. Not in good shape but only for housing the LP. That being said, these limited edition picture discs for Dark Side Of The Moon (check other listings in present and future) actually came in rather bland sleeves without the original LP artwork.
