Description
Up for auction here is my coveted copy of Pink Floyds 'Pinky' album which I am reluctantly selling. This is the original 1971 English pressing which is extremely rare. I'm not going to go on about it being one of the Floyd's holy grails because those of who are likely to bid already know how hard this album is to find.
If you want to know about this album (and its history) then you can check it out at www.floydboots.com
The cover is in pretty good shape which is unusual for these... It has some foxing on it and some light edge wear on the front opening side but overall is in excellent shape for an album of this age. It has no seam splits or tears whatsoever and the cloth binding tape on the side has not disintegrated into one big seam split like the 2 other copies I have ever seen in my time as a Floyd collector (39 Years!!!). It has the original 'Pinky' written in the top right hand corner, as it should and is correct for this album, and no awful home made artwork which seems to appear on these.
To be on the safe side the vinyl I'm going to describe as VG only... It has 3 or 4 visible marks on each side (you can see them but you can't feel them)... But, as is common with some of these type records, the pressing itself doesn't look very good, with a few 'bumps' and lacking lustre in a few places, those of you who ever bought an early CBM pressing will know what I mean. I bought this secondhand many years ago and have never cleaned it or had it professionally cleaned. If you buy this you should do it as it's very cheap and may bring it up real nice.
I played it this afternoon and it tracks perfectly with no skips, sticks or jumps, but it has some pops and crackles though as you would expect, again, a thorough clean would help these, and the sound quality of the music is pretty good for albums of this type.
I am confident that an album of this rarity will make its market value on ebay so I'm not putting a reserve on it, I'll start it at £1 and see where it goes.... Good luck in the auction if you're bidding.....
